Regarding Morgan: Is your point that our receivers last year may have made him look a little better than he really is?
Theory 1. The receivers made Tanner look better than he is.
Theory 2. The play calling didn’t put him in the same opportunities to succeed.
Ex: Last year slants were money. This year it took us a few games to remember.
The play sequences were different this year....in football one play often sets up the next. The offensive actions didn’t scare anybody this year.
Theory 3. The new OC tried to tweak his delivery and he wasn’t as comfortable or accurate.
Theory 4. We had a brand new line to start the season and pass protection was inferior to last year. As a result Tanner got jittery early and wasn’t as confident this year.
Theory 5. No summer workouts together and no traditional training camp made it impossible to put things together at last years level.
There’s easily 10 more....

Maryland just signed the number 1 ILB in the nation. Five star Terrence Lewis from Miami. Locksley showing his recruiting prowess, signing five four star plus guys, all play in the front seven of the defense.

Makes perfect sense to me. Anyone disagree? Do agree with Bob's statement as well.
Well he did say "solid" QB. What does that mean?

I wouldn't say it routinely happens, but you can find plenty of times where Tanner has thrown a ball behind a receiver, and our guy cut his route short, reached behind him, etc. and did what needed to be done to catch the ball. It often could've been a better play if he lead him more with the throw. But in the stats, it goes down as "a catch is a catch". Similar with balls thrown low or high, but the receiver did what was needed to be done to make the catch.

You need to add the fact Morgan had to deal with a very serious health condition that his father fought throughout 2020. This in itself would be enough to sidetrack anyone from overall job performance.

I would be really curious about T3. Sanford obviously must be doing something to these kids that doesn't work. Three straight QB's that he's caused to have significantly worse years, can't be an anomaly.

Bolded: taking deep shots, too. That was a staple of what made the 2019 offense so difficult to defend, that we abandoned prior to the Purdue game for some reason.

Another thing we abandoned was the occasional Morgan keeper.

T4 - Schlueter, Olson, and Andries were all seasoned vets. Granted, I think Andries plays out of position at tackle, but he's still solid there. And JMS did so well at center last year when guys were hurt, that it forced Callahan to keep putting him in the game in a rotation.

Ruschmeyer was the only guy who was really new. He played on a hurt ankle against Michigan. But it mostly still only cost us badly on that one series late in the game where they got I think three sacks in a row. They put Boe in after that, to finish the game.

There were rumors that Tanner himself had some kind of nagging injury, as well. Perhaps preventing him from taking deep shots until later in the season.

Illuminati and the Stone Cutters, don't forget them!

Interesting though, that MD 's 247 Average is lower than Gophs.

They signed him? Pretty sure that would be illegal

Got to be some loophole, unless he is a mid-year JC transfer. Interesting that nobody in media, or other coaches, seems to be questioning it. I’m sure it will be explained soon.

Could be that he has an inflated sense of self and didn’t want to share announcement day with others. Could be that he is an earnest young man who wanted to wait to see how his semester grades came out before assuming he would be moving on to a University. And an infinite number of possibilities in between. Anyway, always good to see such talent picking the B1G. A rising tide carries all boats.

Maryland and Nebraska seem to have a nag for high recruiting classes. Maybe things things will change for the better. But, their high end talent do not as of yet translate to a championship title. Maybe things will be different this time around.

any further word on Dickerson, or is it still of the mindset he's looking likely to stick with us?

Avante Dickerson, state's No. 1 prospect, still weighing options, Westside coach says
Avante Dickerson “keeps his own corner,” his coach likes to say.

The Omaha Westside cornerback — the state’s No. 1 prospect in the 2021 class — is not easily fooled on a football field nor easily influenced off of it, Warrior coach Brett Froendt said. He stays relatively quiet about his recruiting process, which since mid-December has been a mystery.

Dickerson, a consensus four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 47 player according to ESPN, didn’t sign with Minnesota despite being committed to the Gophers since mid-April. He crafted a short statement about his choice to postpone his signing until later.

That’s still where things stand, Froendt said.

“He’s just not sure yet,” Froendt said. “The bottom line is, he wants to try and visit a campus.”
Because the NCAA shut down all visits due to the pandemic, Dickerson has not seen Minnesota yet. He hasn’t seen other schools he was interested in, either — including Oregon and Boston College — because of the NCAA’s moratorium that extends through at least April 15. Coaches have conducted most of their work on Zoom or Facetime as a result.

It’s possible Dickerson may be able to at least see Minnesota in January with a general campus tour through the university. Those are unrelated to the athletic department staff.

(he did make sure to get out to Columbus, very quickly after they offered, to check out that campus)

:(

Well Nebraska as of late has trouble keeping them around. Particularly if they're from Florida.

And didn't commit, so take it for what it's worth.
Keep in mind, it wasn't an official visit. He and his family spent their own money to go out there.

The offer might not have been "committable", at that point in time.

To be honest, I still don't understand that part of modern recruiting protocol. I'm not sure if such a thing should even be a thing, in the first place. Might be an area where the rules haven't caught up with what people are doing?

Fleck still working 2021. Former USC commit.

Looks like he decommitted 12/22/2020. Looks to be worth throwing our hat in the ring on, especially if we have space for him in this class. Highly ranked lineman are usually nice to have.
