Go Gophers!!

List of official visitors for the WI game compiled from Rivals and other sites: ATH Dimonic McKinzy; RB Deron Thompson; DE Julien Kafo; DB Khari Blasingame; LB Christian Russell; WR Mike Thomas; DB Craig James; & WR Stephen Louis.

The list for the Penn State game: RB J'Vonte Herrod; ATH Jerry Gibson, & DE Demetrius Hill.

Why do we want a 52-year-old former running back who doesn't like Mike Leach?

Hell has frozen over, a pig just flew and China sent the Dalai Lama a Christmas Card...I fear the apocalypse is near if dpod is admitting to making a mistake!

Maybe his account got hacked, otherwise I'm pretty concerned about that whole apocalypse thing.

GopherHole Q&A: Roseville QB Jacques Perra Has Gophers PWO Offer; Plays at TCF Bank Stadium Thursday Night

http://www.gopherhole.com/news_article/show/307333?referrer_id=388419

Interesting comments re: McKinzy. It's been speculated for a while, but the staff may view him more as a DB. Helps to shed some light on the current class. I could see them thinking that between Rhoda, Conway, and Perra we end up with at least one guy who can end up being a scholarship player and a good back-up or starter for a year. That way we didn't have to use a scholarship this cycle on a QB when we are already really young at the position and are targeting Ryan Schlichte next year (possibly) and heavily recruiting Seth Green as part of the 2016 class.

I freely admit my mistakes. I make one so rarely that you might've never seen it.

Perra seems like a good kid and a leader type to me from what I've seen of him off the football field. I saw him compete in track this past spring and thought he could be a TE/LB/DE if nothing else, but according to lots of people his best attribute is his arm/throwing. Pretty good size and strength, though maybe not a speedster.
He's one I'd be excited about if we could figure out some way to get him a PWO/greyshirt. I could easily compare him to Leidner physically.

I get a feeling this is really downt o OSU and FSU...at least he won't be a Badger in that scenario.

Ragnow was offered by Ole Miss today. That list might become 7.

How Bielema does in year one will have absolutely no effect on this recruiting class.

Many studies have shown that wins and losses are vastly overrated in recruiting, but that's especially the case in a coach's first year when he can sell the idea of rebuilding and early playing time. The only time it really matters is when program support erodes and/or a coach looks like he's going to be fired.

Anyone would be excited to get an offer from Ohio State, but you can tell a lot of what a recruit is thinking by who they are talking to, and Ragnow has spent a lot of time talking to Arky, including taking his only official there so far.

Brought this up in the recruiting Q&A with Roseville QB Jacques Parra, but Roseville's Jr WR Jesper Horstad would be an interesting target as well, although supposedly he wants to play baseball in college. 6'4", fast and can jump, and had 19 catches for 293 yards and 2 TDs as Roseville beat previously undefeated Maple Grove in the first round of state last night...

I was at the game last night and Perra looked good but Horstad (I'm assuming WR/S #7) really stood out. Made some nice plays on the ball on offense and plays with some tenacity on defense. Good physical size especially for a junior. I personally thought Maple Grove's corners were really terrible which made him look even better but he definitely still looked like a player. Horstad burned MG deep early a few times catching a couple contested balls and after that it was Perra to Horstad basically at will. Once MG started giving Horstad cushion to respect the deep ball they ran slants, hitches, and short outs at will (Perra usually putting the ball right where it needed to be) then hit MG with a hitch-n-go for big yards. Also on Perra's only INT, Horstad beat the MG corner by 3-4 yards down the sidelines but pressure up front forced Perra to throw off his back foot and under throw the ball. Perra led two scoring drives at the end of the first and second half with the ball in his own territory and less than 3 minutes on the clock. Overall I was very impressed.

East Ridge DT, Jovanny Garcia, received an offer from the Gophers.

This has been very under the radar, but he's on an unofficial visit today, and given the fact that he's a local and has no other offers, you'd think it's a matter of time before he commits.

since he is 2016. Its going to be awhile prof

Speaking of Minnesota HS football, how is it that Eden Prairie is so dominant this year and yet they only have two guys with FBS offers (Olson and Hovey) and both of those guys don't seem to be considered by BCS programs at all.

I realize that MN football is what it is, but you'd think a team as dominant as EP would have more college football talent on the roster. Is it just a matter of more depth than everyone else?

Or conversely, how did East Ridge lose to Eastview 38-3 when they have four guys with BCS offers?
