Official 2014 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

He's been getting a lot of "love" despite not having an offer from the U or any other school.

hee hee hee, John Galt. There is a lot of that going around. Getting a lot of "love" is like looking in the mirror and NOT saying BLECHHHHH!

Apparently he is dominating against the top prospects in the nation right now...cray cray. He is going to get a massive bump in ratings after this.

New GopherHole Q&A with Reid Travis:

Gopher Hole: What is the latest with football? Have you even gotten a chance to do much?

Reid Travis: I haven’t gotten a chance to do much with football. I have only been home like three or four days this whole month. I haven’t been able to do much or as much as I would like to.

Gopher Hole: I know that you have a few offers for football. What is the latest on your football recruitment?

Reid Travis: I’m not sure. My coach kind of handles all that right now. He knows that I am busy, so he is just taking all the calls in and explaining the situation. He is letting me clear my mind with all that.

Gopher Hole: Are you leaning one way more than the other or are you still pretty open between the two sports?

Reid Travis: It is open.

Purdue's latest commitment for the 2014 class has a familiar-sounding name for Boilermakers fans.

Linebacker Gelen Robinson gave his verbal pledge to Darrell Hazell on Monday. He's the son of former Purdue basketball great Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Gelen excels on the football field, where he had 13 sacks and five forced fumbles last season for Lake Central (Ind.) High School. He also won a state wrestling title and finished second in the shot put at the state track and field finals.

Robinson -- whose brother Glenn Robinson III plays basketball at Michigan -- was also being recruited by Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri and others. But Hazell went after him hard, and he's a guy the Boilers needed to reel in given the legacy connection.

I was surprised by the SAT score of 1490. When I took SATs the highest score you could get was 1400. They must have changed the scoring system (See link below).

http://rivals.yahoo.com/minnesota/f...iams-138249;_ylt=Ajx8muWNR6jny7.oSRayztbUspB4

A perfect score was 1600 for quite a while (800 critical reading née verbal + 800 math). They added a writing section in 2005 (also 800 pts) which means a perfect is now 2400. A score of 1490 is just below average (~47th percentile). It is comparable to a score of ~990 on the old SAT or a ~20 on the ACT. Assuming the rest of his academic profile is fine, he would gain admittance as a scholarship athlete to most D-I schools in the country.

Thanks - I don't know what I was thinking when I thought 1400 was a perfect score in 1960. The worst part of this is that my math score was 690 so I have obviously gotten worse at math. Unfortunately it was considerably better than my verbal score. You also jogged my memory about the addition of the writing section later. I do find it interesting, but not surprising, how few of the recruits are willing to post their academic scores.

Scout is the 1st

That's cause he's goin to Bama!

It couldn't be that he dominated every single camp he attended recently, including frequently winning battles against the top recruits in the nation. You know, actual on-field evidence that merited an increase in rank? No, couldn't be that. Let's just say that they have an Alabama bias, despite the fact that Alabama has several 3-star commits on Scout. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Marcus Collins to Pitt. Gophers didn't offer after camp.

Hearing Jeff Jones wants/is changing schools for his senior year.

East Ridge? We know he'll have blockers.

Under new rules, I believe the family would have to move into the new school district.

Jeff Jones's dad, just got out of prison this summer, a move wouldn't be surprising.

Not to subtract from this thread, but what was his dad serving time for? If Jones moves school I hope he does well.

Jones should go play with Ragnow!!! Convince him to come to the U!!!!!

My comment comes from a report, that that part of the reason Jeff Jones was continuing to take visits, was that his dad had just gotten out of prison and Jeff wanted to include him in the process. I don't really think we should go beyond that. His father is now part of his life so some things might change.
