Gordon Building Off Successful Year by Scout's Midwest Scot Allen Trieu
After a great junior season, Cretin-Derham Hall (Minn.) cornerback Tim Gordon is looking for increased college interest.
Cretin Derham Hall is one of the powerhouse programs in the Land of Many Lakes, and one of their top juniors is cornerback Tim Gordon who had five interceptions and 18 pass breakups this season.
With good size (5'11, 175-lbs), good grades (3.4 GPA) and that good production, he has established himself as a prospect colleges need to know about.
"Right now, I'm hearing from Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Boston College. I got invited to junior day from [Minnesota] and I expect to get one from Pittsburgh pretty soon. Boston College stopped through a couple weeks ago."
Gordon says he has a good relationship with his home state school and he is hoping the Gophers are the first to say the words he's been waiting to hear.
"I usually talk to my position coach, Coach Jay Sawvel or Coach Glasscock. Their interest is at a high level right now. We’ll see what happens at junior day, but I'm hoping for an offer pretty soon now."
Just a few weeks ago, Gordon had a chance to go down to Texas and compete against some of the top young prospects in the country at the U.S. Army Combine.
"It was a great experience to compete and enjoy just being with the nation’s best. I went into the Army Combine off basketball season, as most athletes did, so I didn't train as much as I would have if it weren’t for basketball. I feel like I competed with the best, although I could have done better myself. I did just want I had to do to bring in schools I want to know about me and kick it to the next level, which I'll do come spring."
As the recruitment gets kicked into gear, there are a few programs Gordon will look to hear more from.
"I have to say a lot of the Big Ten, Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, a couple out East schools, UMass, hopefully Rutgers and also, I would like to hear from Iowa State."
