Just messing with you...Marshall Matt Dillon, played by Washburn high schools own James Arness
That's not a crazy commute for $50K more, especially if you can WFH a few days a week.Glad you like greasy A holes, I don’t. I could move 30 miles west for a 50000 bonus but I like my home
That would put him in the top 5-6 paid coordinators in college. You honestly think Miami would pay that for someone with one year in FBS let alone someone with more experience and success at this level? They have already over paid for their HC.Assuming he's making North of $2 million dollars. Even if he gets gassed in a year or two he's getting a bag and will end up in a job similar to Minnesota DC role in prestige if Miami doesn't work out.
I think he was a West High Cowboy!Marshall Matt Dillon, played by Washburn high schools own James Arness

Yeah, I don’t blame him for making the move and I’m not too upset. Not many people decommitted or transferred when Rossi left, so I doubt many will here especially if we promote from within. I think our defense still has a chance to be great next year and I’m still optimistic, even if I would have preferred it if Hetherman stayed.I think Hetherman struck while the iron was hot. I like him and wish we could have seen more of him for a few more years but he got paid for his one year of success at the FBS level. And against the bowl teams we played, we were just somewhere between okay and good. We gave up about 24 points a game to the bowl teams we played. He also had some pretty solid veteran guys that he inherited.
Again, seemed like a good coach and wish we hadn’t lost him but not sure we saw enough to pull our hair out and gnash our teeth because he left.
I think that's a great question and to be determined. I think that the fans of the "haves" will continue to support their teams as everyone loves to support a winner but think it's going to get more and more difficult for the "have nots" as fans begin to see and feel little hope for success. We're in the era of musical chairs for players and coaches. Don't get attached and don't expect somebody to stick around too long.
The question is, without attachment and committment, will the fans still care as much a few years down the line?
Miami has not been a good team much over the last 30yrs. And in a crap accI am sorry. I like the program but to have so many coaches leave for lateral moves is a problem! I can see moving for upgrades not a good look for more money if you are building a good program.
Agreed. Most people would not consider a move to Miami a lateral one.Miami has not been a good team much over the last 30yrs. And in a crap acc
So were capt. Kirk and jonny questMatt Dillon was on Gunsmoke?
Speaking only for myself, apathy is already setting in.We're in the era of musical chairs for players and coaches. Don't get attached and don't expect somebody to stick around too long.

isn’t your last sentence evidence they might overpay a DC?That would put him in the top 5-6 paid coordinators in college. You honestly think Miami would pay that for someone with one year in FBS let alone someone with more experience and success at this level? They have already over paid for their HC.
Do our coordinators live in a tent city in Minneapolis? I'd be surprised. Compare median home prices in Miami to Edina, Wayzata, etc.Median home price in Miami is $300K higher than Minneapolis. Next question?
Who cares, he then has an asset that is worth more, assuming he doesn’t just rent.Median home price in Miami is $300K higher than Minneapolis. Next question?
I don’t think we can reasonably point the finger at the HC without any evidence, it’s not like guys are leaving for equal or less money. All this talk about money, which certainly plays a role. Ambition, weather, recruiting market. What about the H.C.? By his own admission he's not for everyone.

Not to mention, in offense all those years, all those opportunities, yet no pass at Miss Kitty.Matt was good at shooting the bad guys. But as far as coaching the defense the guy acted like he as never seen a forward pass.
Someone else said it somewhere in this thread but when you hire a guy who has been at 13 different places in 15 different positions in an 18 year coaching career you can’t really be that shocked when he moves on.Let's all pump the brakes here. At the end of the day, do PJ and our Admin believe that his salary/pricetag were worth it? Do you, as Gopher fans, know for a fact it would have been worth it to pay him that money? Miami is taking a chance on him. He's still a relative known at the FBS level , and he took over a well-oiled machine from Rossi (and was already familiar with our scheme)
Also, our defense was solid this year but in many of our key matchups we were getting SLICED open following the half (3rd quarter vs Iowa comes to mind) which often fall on scheming, game planning, adjustments and coaching.
This is par for the course in college ball. Even Saban during the Bama Death Star years had multiple staff changes every offseason.
That dudes renting 100%. He ain’t in one spot long enough for the ink to dry.Who cares, he then has an asset that is worth more, assuming he doesn’t just rent.
I think stability is a good reason to stay. He’d have a chance to stay here for quite a while. Miami is a helmet school where a head coach can move on pretty quickly or be canned for missing the playoffs. Expectations are incredibly high at Miami. No doubt Heathermen is used to high expectations but don’t think he’s experienced a hook as quick as they come sometimes at schools like Miami, Alabama, and a few others. Why would he turn that down?
This logic would only work if you compare a house in Edina to a comparably upscale suburb of Miami. And my guess is Miami is considerably more expensive.Do our coordinators live in a tent city in Minneapolis? I'd be surprised. Compare median home prices in Miami to Edina, Wayzata, etc.
Miami has expensive suburbs too.Do our coordinators live in a tent city in Minneapolis? I'd be surprised. Compare median home prices in Miami to Edina, Wayzata, etc.
Without doing any research, I wonder if there was a connection to a current coach on the Miami staff and/or the AD with Heatherman, ie coached together at a previous stop, or something? All this talk about money, which certainly plays a role. Ambition, weather, recruiting market. What about the H.C.? By his own admission he's not for everyone.
