Gophers aggressively pursuing former 5 star DB from OsU

We’re pursuing a 5 star transfer? Good heavens, the sky is falling.

The most obvious thing he did was win 11 games; finish in the top 10; and win a New Years Bowl game. That's the most obvious.

If he didn't have success, he'd just be a quirky guy they talked about when he was hired. If you're quirky with results - - - attention.

As far as 2019 being the norm. That is a higher standard than the Badgers (the level of success you think we should be attaining).
> It's better than all but 1 season of Paul Chryst's.
> Gary Anderson never had as good of a season.
> Bielema only won more games once in 7 years (won 11 two more times).

Our 2019 isn't even the NORM for the Badgers. It was a really good season.

On top of the best Gophers season in my lifetime....he's done a few other things as well:

* APR rate continues to be one of the best in the nation.
** Community outreach. Getting the players involved in charitable endeavors.
*** Recruited and developed the first Gophers first round pick in fifteen years.

Many reasons to like Fleck and be excited about the programs direction under him.

Not to get Boomtime too upset here, but there have been some rumors of another potential DB transfer from Alabama. We must be REALLY struggling as a program.

Becareful...you're on a tightrope as to what you can say. Doesn't take much to get Boomtime upset about anything.

Safe to say, I think we'll be able to ensure that PJ really pisses him off by landing some kind of quality DB transfer in the next month or two.

Also, it's hard work to be a troll against PJ these days. Boomie doesn't have much material to work with other than the fact that COVID ravaged our team last year (especially our specialists) and cost us at least two games. If that is the worst you can say about PJ, I feel pretty damn good. Oh, that and he draws "too much attention" to the program through his personality and slogans. (makes jerking off motion)

Don't worry, he'll just point out all of the players that Kill/Claeys out-recruited 'bama and tOSU for.

So far, the results say I'm correct. Fleck inherited a 9 win team and currently has a winning percentage <.600 in his time here. Facts shouldn't be hard to accept?

We win the West this season, or win nine games with this much experience and I'll modify my stance. The team will go whichever direction Morgan goes.

I just don't understand so much blind allegiance to PJF?
Fleck didn't "inherit" a 9 win team. Inherit means that you get substantially all of it. He certainly inherited some of the carryover talent from that team. Be didn't inherit key senior contributors such as Jalen Myrick, Mitch Leidner, Damarion Travis, Jack Lynn, Yoshoub Timms, Nick Rallis, Jonah Pirsig, Drew Wolitarsky, Hendrik Epke, Scott Epke and Ace Rogers. He didn't inherit several other 2016 players, who moved for other reasons. He had to replace a three-year starter at QB with a senior walk-on. He inherited virtually no experienced, capable WRs except a young Tyler Johnson (who was a freshman in 2016). He inherited very few healthy OL men. And he inherited only a lagging, incomplete 2017 recruiting class, which he quickly augmented as best he could. "Inherited a 9 win team" is an argumentative opinion that ignores objective reality. You are certainly entitled to hold such an opinion, but that doesn't make it a "fact." Not even close.

OK, so we already have a transfer from Clemson, we could get a 'Bama transfer as well as a DB from tOSU. Sounds like a pattern here as these young men also know what it takes to get to the CFP. We have Dew-Treadway from Notre Dame..... which represents all 4 CFP programs.

Hmmmmmmm. I don't see anything here to complain about. Carry on.

9 win team!!!!

Where you had to beg the walk on to come play QB ;)

You mean that team that couldn't even field 5 offensive lineman for the spring game was a "9 win" team? You're a joke. We'd be dwelling at the bottom of the B1G if it wasn't for Fleck, as WI and Iowa would certainly be light years ahead of us, and Northwestern has been strong recently as well.

And no, you're not gonna modify your stance even if we win 9 this year. Well, you'll modify it like this: "Big deal Fleck got 9 wins this year, he had to do it with transfers on the Dline, LB, WR, and OL. The previous regime won 9 games with their own recruits". There, I saved you the trouble.
Back with a new account, eh?

Do the gopherhole mods know you are back from the ban? Is it approved?

That's beside the point to Boomie. He expects to pop a button, and instantly out pops a Big Ten Title. Between the popping and the clucking, the sky's really falling.

Nope, I'm not him/her. But I did find his/her posts insightful. Seemed very knowledgeable about football, I enjoyed the contributions. I know a lot on here always complained about MplsGopher posting in every thread, on every page lol but I thought he/she was cool.

Meanwhile ... he's Mason fan ....

The man who hates mediocrity ... is the super fan for it.

Yep....totally different people.......I mean I can't count the number of times someone in here was thrilled to read MPLS inputs and thought he/she was cool......yep.....totally different people....

Fine, don't believe me then. But I'm not MplsGopher. Someday that person's ban will be lifted and they will agree.

Who would be this DB of which you speak? I see three Alabama DBs on 247sports in the transfer portal and they all seem to have committed elsewhere.

That makes it even worse, he must be trolling. I was at the U for most of Mason's tenure (undergrad and grad school) and I thought it was pretty rough. Like someone mentioned, get a great win once in a blue moon and follow it up with a surprising loss. And NEVER any defense. That was the worst. The running game was fun, but knowing that after we spend 5 - 7 minutes pounding it down their throat, the opponent would just pass their way back into the game.

That's pretty much my assessment of that user in general.

It's one thing to want to be better, and even be a new fan who wasn't around for Mason or something and just not know much. It's even one thing to be a Mason fan. Even not being a PJ fan. That's fine.

But nobody who went through the Mason era and paid any attention as a fan would bitch about mediocrity, and talk up Mason...

The rest of that user's posts are much the same nonsense such as apologizing about 'being negative' and in the same post... posts a bunch more negative stuff.

Not a fan, just a whiner.
