Foster decommits

I wonder what Wisconsin, Purdue, and Illinois were thinking when they offered him scholarships?

He may or may not end up being a good player but it's been pretty well stated that he was greatly sought after early and that most of his offers dried up later on.

That seems pretty classless on the part of Pitino and the coaching staff. Once the kid signs with the school, the new coaching administration should honor that commitment. Best of luck to FOster wherever he lands.

While I am really excited about Pitino being here, I completely agree...
He chose THIS college, and was loyal to us, so you honor that and keep him. With that being said, I was never a Foster fan in terms of his game. Seems like a nice kid, hope he ends up somewhere that fits him well.

Alex Foster said it was @CoachKimani that made the call to him tonight.

So if Buckles can't play next year they're going to have one power forward really Pitino....

If they told him tonight they're going a different route, don't you think it's possible they think we'll get someone else? Say, Cameron Forte for example?

I feel really bad for the kid. That's a big commitment an athlete makes. Hopefully he picks up some interest quickly.

He hasn't had an offer from Illinois in a long time. Plus the interest in him was when he was a sophomore and by the previous coaching staff. My guess is that he hasn't had an offer from Wisconsin and Purdue for awhile, either. He maxed out a couple of years ago. Minnesota dodged a bullet here, IMO.

I disagree with the poster who thinks Teague, etc. would not want Ellis. If that is the case, he is not the basketball evaluator the poster maintains. Ellis is really good. Watch him wherever he ends up.

Everyone calm down. Does anyone really think pitino doesn't have ideas of his own? I guaranty Teague / Ellis brought pitino up to speed on the recruits. I'm confident there will be a couple additions before the Fall. And perhaps they will be a better fit.

Ill side with coach for now. He knows elite talent.

At least they told him, it would've been worse if they said nothing and stuck him on the bench during the year and then he'd transfer and sit the next season. This way Foster can find a school the fits him and find a program he can be successful in for four years. There's no nice way to handle cutting a kid

B.S., then hold Ellis to his commitment. Stop with the Minnesota nice bulls***

Why? Stop with the Minnesota nice B.S. Pitino shouldn't be hamstrung by Tubby's lazy recruiting

jamalo, with what I put in bold, I agree with you fully. Nice guys finish last, or damn near it.

give it a rest; see Ellis....

I'm not saying I disagree with the move here, but I do feel really bad for the kid. He's not Ellis, and gave no indication he was less than solid. It would be really tough to be committed to and excited for a school and then have them pull the rug from under your feet. Again, I get that it goes both ways, and maybe it's a necessary part of the game, but we are still allowed to feel bad for the kid

Maybe it's just I don't think Sun Belt recruits fit in the Big Ten we'll see though...

Agree. I feel bad for kid. I don't think anything is wrong here. It's what happens when a new sheriff comes to town (borrowed reference from a message from Bleed). Oto probably is losing a little sleep tonight. A year from now nobody will remember this. But it happens and it's the sad part of big time college athletics.

Could not disagree more, if it's expected that players be let out of their LOI (which I think they should) then why should the coach not be able to get out of the commitment?

I agree with this. If he is not a fit for the team, it would be a source of drama and he would potentially end up transferring anyway. Pitino just removed the band-aid in one fell swoop.

You're powers of deduction and logic are immense. Would that we all could be graced with such ability.

As it turns out, I was right about you. Your posts officially make me laugh. The shots you try to pull are actually admissions of how clueless you are. Thanks for the unintentional comedy. I look forward to you making a fool of yourself in the future. :)
