Fire Ben Johnson

If Ben is so superstitious, isn't that a liability to the team; with all the extra effort being diverted to situations around the actual game itself?

Ben was on KFAN radio with Grimm today...he talked about how superstitious he is...making the people set the tables up in a certain pattern because they won when they were set up that way.
Can't stay at certain hotels because they lost last time. ALL kinds of things.

Points of emphasis last game he really hammered home that he wanted the guys to focus on...
No live ball turnovers that lead to opponents points. No opponents second chance points. Shoot shots your teammates expect you to shoot versus trying to do something you can't...stay in our offense. He thought they were better at it...proud of his coaching. I couldn't help but wonder what he'd emphasize if he was coaching a college team versus the 7th graders at DeLaSalle. All fine points of emphasis but we should be well past that at this point in the season and at this level.
Ben the Hammer. Our opponents are lucky he didn't emphasize not turning the ball over and shooting good shots sooner. Morgan State felt Ben's wrath. Look out Purdue.

If he were really successful, we'd pass it off as an entertaining quirk. Where the program is at now, it comes across like he is seriously short-circuiting. I've seen compost with better self-awareness.
That's always the danger with quirky coaches. Brewster would have quite the following and the "keep your chili hot" tshirts would be worn all over the stadium if he had been good. (I didn't like the Brewster hire because of his lack of experience, really didn't like his results, but I actually think his buffoonery would have made him one of my favorite all time coaches if he had been successful here, one of those guys where we relish how much every other fan base hates him)

All of you guys critiquing Ben's words....

After we lost all of our players again this off-season....after our administration chose to stink instead of be very good...serious words from Ben WENT OUT THE WINDOW. Ben now knows that it's all a total joke.

Is this a defense of Ben?
Is this a reason to keep him in a position where he is obviously struggling?
Is this a reason to stay the course no matter how embarrassing and disheartening?
Is this the kind of behavior and rationale that we, the supporters of the program, must embrace?

So when does it happen? Does he make it to February?
They don't have a full "bye" until February 8th-15th but that's pretty late to bother with an in-season firing. I'd say if they're 0-10 after the Michigan State game on 1/28, you almost have to do it by then if not before.

Their only decent chance for a win before than is this Monday. So the best day to do it is tomorrow. The next best day is next Tuesday.

Unfortunately for us, yes.

Tubby started out great. But our administration hammered him into submission. By the end he was recruiting the local community colleges...with no Top-150 guys in several years.

Ben tried a ground-up approach. But whenever our players became valuable, they left.

It's all smoke & mirrors.

Ben is the WORST DEI hire ever!,,, fucking brutal

U of M is getting what they deserve
I don’t know about DEI but Ben was hired because the local dopes all told Coyle that success would come through the instate talent and they lovvvved Ben and hated Pitino. Coyle took the bait and here we are. Camel got his nose under the rent and that s is on Coyle.

Coyle is doing what he's TOLD to do.

You dopes act like Coyle is some huge Minnesota sports fan. Once our players become good, he tells them to go elsewhere.
