6th grade was when the politics really started to get dirty. Six years later, the Hall Monitor Controversy would morph into the Homecoming Debacle. How my buddy became king is something I can't grasp even to this day.5th grade.....election was rigged in 6th grade and they gave it to someone else.
I didn’t seek the negative over the last 4 years, it was pushed in my face like a gigantic pile of shit, impossible to ignore. The beauty of it is, that no one saw it coming. That’s what makes this special and memorable, except for people who seek the negative instead of the positive in life.

You keep imagining there is an either or rather than a both. The reference was to what is occurring now (going 6-3 in the last nine games), as that was the subject of the post I was responding to.
If you or others choose not to bask in the here and now, vs. wallow in the past, that is your choice, not mine or some others on here.
As for me and mine -
There was nothing in that poster’s comment which was positive, furthermore it wasn’t even addressed directly to them, thus rendering your analysis inaccurate. You keep imagining there is an either or rather than a both.
It is possible to see the forest and know that it is dying while still seeing individual trees and being happy that they are alive and healthy.
Your words buddy, not mine. I’m on record, saying that if we don’t make The NCAA tournament, Ben should go; this obviously doesn’t preclude me and others from enjoying an unexpected 6-3 run and visions of the NCAA Bubble in our heads- those two stances aren’t mutually inclusive, obviouslyIt is possible to hire a new forest manager who is capable of restoring a healthy forest rather than only rejoicing in the few healthy trees that are standing.
Are you a season ticket holder?I didn’t seek the negative over the last 4 years, it was pushed in my face like a gigantic pile of shit, impossible to ignore.
You too Pastor Osteen.l

I get the impression we’re not on the same page and you have a different perspective, which is certainly your choice/free will. I’m not looking to get in a good old fashioned pissing match, as I don’t live that way anymore (most of the time)- so I’ll just put you back on ignore and move forward with a smile on my mug and a song in my heart - if that annoys you, that’s your choice.

The West coast sweep was surprising. Team is still 6-9 and going to fall well short of NCAA tournament with a roster that turns over after the season so we still aren't at a point where anything that has happened is enough to say Johnson should get another year. But we are definitely inching far closer to that point then I thought we would, even after the 3 game win streak.@MNVCGUY - are you now willing to admit that the scenario is playing out just as some of us thought it would if they managed to get to this point? You were pretty confident and dismissive of our viewpoints. They sweep PSU and NW and the chorus will grow louder.
It was Ben's stellar resume and interview.Johnson is a good coach--by the old rules. Unfortunately, those days are gone. I still think he was a worthwhile risk--by the old rules. He has never been properly financially supported. As I've said many times before, Coyle needs to pursue other interests when Johnson pursues other interests. If Johnson comes back, he needs real money to buy real players.
He's molded a bunch of marginal players who've never played together around one legit second team all B1G player into a really pretty good, pretty tough team. The problem is that it took 3.5 months to get there.
I would take him over Cronin and his 499 wins any day.
Finally, I asked a week or so ago for proof that Gabel made Coyle hire Johnson. Haven't seen a response.
I live in Chicago now, so no. But I was from 1994-02. I also was one as a student. I put more money into that program than I care to admit. Are you a season ticket holder?

I going out on a limb with...more than 29.How many pages does it take to discuss this topic.....FFS
As long as he's the coach, it will be discussed. Especially if he is a coach with 0 NCAA appearances. Is that hard to understand? How many pages does it take to discuss this topic.....FFS

At least five more pages on whether this is too many or too few pages on the topic. How many pages does it take to discuss this topic.....FFS

Yup. And Mn is worried about getting hs kids. This is what we're dealing with next year. A good high school recruiting class, but there's no way to replace Garcia with a high school recruit. Ben needs to find an all-conference caliber player in the portal, and he almost certainly will not. Garcia was manna from the heavens when he fell into Johnson's lap.
That's up to Mark Coyle. How many pages does it take to discuss this topic.....FFS
Great comparisonAll this discussion is identical to the discussion in the winter of 2006, when there was much discussion about whether or not Joel Maturi would sack Dan Monson at the end of that year.
(Spoiler: Maturi wouldn't pull the trigger, and it would take until the following December and a wipeout at the hands of Clemson for Monson to finally get the sack
The answer to your question is found in any good literary device: plausible deniability. It is misdirection. When Coyle comes out at the end of the season to pontificate that the team "had enough wins to merit the tourney", you can be assured that his schedule was meant as a cover for general wins and not as a ploy to assert quality wins. That's my guess. I like Coyle about as much as moss on a wet rock embedded on a slip n slide. I might like the moss, just not my guts getting ripped out from the rock.Tony tweeted today about how disastrous the non-conference strength of schedule has been in essentially making an NCAA-worthy rating impossible. It's totally nonsensical for Coyle to state an expectation of NCAA contention this season when it's all but statistically improbable with the schedule he co-developed. As we've asked so many times in so many ways, what the fuck are we doing?
There are 296 Division I college basketball teams that will not make the NCAA tournament so that’s how many coaches should get fired every year
Heard Rick Pitino in a recent interview say he won't take a high school kid this year.Yup. And Mn is worried about getting hs kids.
