Exhibition Game Tonight: Cardinal Stritch

Only three games...two exhibitions and Montana....are available in Gopher All-Access or the BTN all access. The rest of the non conferences games outside of the road games are either on BTN, ESPN3 or ESPNU. If you have BTN, you can watch those games online with BTN2Go.

Thanks Max - looks like it's the Barn or the Bar for me. ;)

Can't wait to watch tonight. This game, the next exhibition game, and Montana is well worth 10 bucks. New coach and a lot of new faces, should be fun.

Planning to watch tonight via All Access. I'll try to provide a short recap here, otherwise check out the blog for something more built out.

Exhibition Begins...
The defending NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Champions, and No. 1-ranked, Cardinal Stritch University Wolves men's basketball team will start the road to their title defense as Stritch will head to Minneapolis, Minn. on Friday, November 7 to face the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers from Williams Arena at 7:00 p.m. in preseason basketball.

The Wolves will put themselves to the test early as they come off of a 2012-13 season in which Stritch went 35-3 overall and claimed regular season and tournament championships in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Led by NAIA Coach of the Year Drew Diener, Stritch has excelled under the fifth year head coach as the program has gone 113-28 overall, including 60-4 in the CCAC and 50-6 at home on Panella Court.

While Stritch will be losing several key players from last year's squad, the No. 1-ranked Wolves return key players such as NAIA Second Team All-American Derek Semenas (Rosendale, Wis.), defensive-minded Tony Smit (Fond du Lac, Wis.), sharp-shooter Chad Mazur (Reedsburg, Wis.) and big man Isaac Quinn (Kenosha, Wis.). Diener and his staff also added several new faces to this year's crew including Alex Morgunov (Sacramento, Calif.), Garrett Borgrud (Deerfield, Wis.), Josiah VerVelde (Oostburg, Wis.) and Tyler Semenas (Rosendale, Wis.). Morgunov, Borgurd, and VerVelde each stand no less than 6-foot-9 while Semenas brings speed and strong shooting from the outside.

Standing in the way for the Wolves are the Golden Gophers, who are coming off a season in which they were 21-13 overall and 8-10 in the Big Ten Conference (B1G). UM will be led onto the court at Williams Arena by first year head coach Richard Pitino, who takes over the program after coaching at Florida International University where he compiled a record of 18-14.

Tip-off for Friday night's game will be at 7:00 p.m. with radio provided by the Wolves Sports Network and pay-per-view video provided by Gopher All-Access.

I couldn't get it to load in Chrome but was able to with Safari.

Mo with the easy dunk. Lots of good passing tonight. Press seems to be causing a lot of turnovers right now. I like what I'm seeing.

Mathieu is going to be a great addition to this team. He is lightening quick and has the ability to make defenders look stupid.

Pair of missed free throws by Oto. Here we go again.

Oto has been off at the freethrow line this whole preseason. I believe he was 50% in the scrimmages. He needs to improve that quickly.

Joey King already has four assists in four minutes of play time?

Man, Smith will be great when he's on but will be maddening when he is off. He just airballed a super deep 3 early in the possession.

"Gophers so far haven't had trouble with that zone defense." I don't think we've ever heard that before, even in exhibition play.

Wowowowowowow Austin with the sick dunk.

How has the press looked?

Very good, but consider the opponent. We could run poor ball handling teams out of the gym, but against teams that can handle the press, we may give up some easy layups. Should be interesting once we start playing better teams.

I want to hit the century mark. Also, I'd like to see some Charles Buggs in the 2nd half.
