B1G Game 12: Gophers host Iowa (2-6-25)

Very big game which will probably have NCAA tourney implications, especially for our Gophers. Despite their nice win over USC, the Hawkeyes are still very beatable. They have some good outside shooters, but maybe Olsen has some trouble with the length of the Gopher guards? Iowa's McCabe is a 3-point sniper, but she's a fairly one-dimensional player. Can Hart outplay O'Grady in the middle? Can the Gophers keep Steulke under control? I like the Gophers chances but they'll have to play well to come away with a W.

Do we think we will ever be able to sell out Williams area every game like Iowa does? Watching that game yesterday even made me excited and I am not a Iowa fan. The fan and support for is crazy. Having 15k fans at all your games as a recruit has to excite you.

The CC effect is real but they don’t have any other teams to compete with for fans . Many of us remember the sell outs @
The Barn back in the Whalen/ McCarville days. Coach P is off to a great start n if she can keep a few of our home grown stars the future will be bright !

I believe Steulke will be a problem for the Gophers. And worry about jet lag as well.

You're worried about jet lag? I'm worried my Hawks will be suffering a big hangover after the huge win over USC. Feels like a trap game to me.

This is much more likely (which is good for our Gophs). As long as you hydrate and get 5-6 hours of sleep it should only take 1 day per hour of time difference to adjust to a new time zone. So we shouldn't be jet lagged at all by Thursday.
And it's only a trap if Iowa believes they're the favorite coming to Williams arena. If that's the case, hubris will be their downfall.

Iowa will struggle to keep the sellouts going as time goes on. They had 3,000-4,000 empty seats last week for a Northwestern sellout.

Maybe, maybe not. They had/have a ton of top recruits (top 25) visiting from what it looks like. If they continue to grab them they're not going to fall.

I have a feeling that the Gophers are going to be out for revenge in this game, given they lost both games to Iowa last year and the second loss was by 48 points. Hopefully that motivates them to completely demolish Iowa, just like it did with Penn State.

Coach P is a better coach than Coach Gottlieb or Jan Jensen. Gophers should win. Gopher players will also be very motivated coming back from LA and after the Clark game last year at Williams. Gophers PA announcer basically treated Clark as a home team player last year. Had to annoy the Gopher players.

Iowa can get national top 25 recruits to take a look, but will struggle to reel them in. It’s Iowa after all. The one they landed has a brother with whom she is close at Grinnell. Otherwise they struck out this year on their other McDonald AA recruits.

And here I keep hoping the Gophers could just get one lol
How many does USC have? How many does Iowa have? Actually it doesn't take any. Gophers now have a pretty good coach and are trending in the right direction. Gophers got screwed by the refs when you played USC. Should be a good game Thursday if the Hawks don't turn the ball over 25 times.

this would be a GREAT game to have a FULL student section and actually have them
involved, like they are for the Men's BIG games

Can't believe its been that long since the last Gopher win. Hopefully it happens tonight as this might be the best chance we get for some time.

If we could get Mckinney to really put ball pressure on Lucy Olson snd stay away from fouls Gophers may have a shot.
