All Things Weather

Watching weather Channel with hurricane Francine. Surprise - last second it intensified to cat 2.

BTW, Jim Cantore doesn't hold onto trees for support, trees hold onto Jim Cantore.
Was hoping the storm would make it up to the midwest as it's been a bit dry but looks like it will stall out around Memphis.

A small piece of it is trying to make it up to eastern MN/western WI Friday night into Saturday. It's really messing up my weekend plans.

Some more remnants might give us a shower or a storm on Monday too.

I think there was some luck in that the greatest winds hit an area less populated. I think the official landfall occurred over a wildlife area. Still incredible flooding well up into North Carolina.

@GopherWeatherGuy Do you do a winter prediction? Most I've seen saying a good chance for an above average precip winter.

l used to do a detailed one in the past, but just haven't had the time to do it like I used to. I still stay up to date on everything forecasting related though.

I agree with Novak on an active/snowy winter for us. I also think it's coming sooner than people realize with all of the recent warm weather we have had. The pattern changes the 2nd half of October.

Another Hurricane inbound for Florida.

Potentially hitting a much more populated area this time. Hopefully it ends up going a bit further south as that would give more of the Everglades the storm surge.

FWIW - fired up the furnace last night. got down to mid-30's in SW MN last night, with upper 30's expected tonight and low 40's tomorrow night.

once the temperature in the house hits the mid-60's overnight, I crank up the heat. I'm cheap, but I'm not crazy.

Here in WI, from 9/19-9/22 we had over 5 inches of rain. Of the 19 days prior to 9/19 and 19 days after 9/22, we've had a grand total of 0.03.
