All Things RB Jeffrey Jones Thread

Weight gain vs. speed gain...

I would guess that most skill players do get faster even though they put on some weight, because the weight is good weight. For college track, I put on 20 pounds my first year training as a decathlete. Our goal was to get me as big as possible (for the throwing events) but as fast as possible (for all other events). When I got to around 195 - 205, I would have to be careful to not put on too much weight. I would think that this would be similar to the training skill guys would do. I think that the last thing that skill players need is to gain 15 or 20 pounds and get slower. But in most cases, athlete's frames can handle a little extra weight without getting slower, and usually getting faster.

Perhaps all those quotes that players make at each level saying they are "adjusting for the speed of the game" is really meant to describe how they are getting used to playing at slower speeds moving from high school to college?

:)

Regarding weight gain, we talking boys or girls?

Also, are we talking electronic or hand timed?

I think these are important things to clarify if we are to have a meaningful discussion.

It depends on whether or not the girl got knocked up.

For the love of doG, can we take this discussion to a different thread?

Totally agree since at this point it has nothing at all to do with JJ.

Nothing on this thread has to do with JJ!

We know nothing, yet we continue to sound like we do.

Coach Kill will let us know when the time is right.

Doc - I bet your Mother told that she would let you know when it was Christmas also. How well did that work?

Well, when she finally took off my leash, said to me, "There's a world out there. Go find it."

The key timing for any football player is not 40 yards. It's 10yrds. This is the measure of explosive power, this is basically from the backfield to 5 yards down field. Second would be the vision and ability to cut, jump cut, and make people miss. Speed to evade linebackers should be a given for any good back. The elite can out run the safeties or a corner. They also have the ability to cut back. Few high school players have all of this. Some college players can offer this, and if you are looking to play at the NFL level and succeed you must have all this and more.

Jeff Jones.
There, we are back on topic.

I tried posting on the side of the cop shop. But they started chasing me. So I had to drop my spray paint & run away. Lol. (To any law enforcement reading this, this is a fictional account.... And get a sense of humor)

Good to Know

Summer school runs through July 10.

At this point I'll be pretty surprised if he doesn't qualify but the silence is deafening. Still on the roster...

I bet JJ is a decent driver. But you know kids these days, always on their phones, so who knows.

Strib reports he fell short again and Summer School and Clearinghouse will decide fate.
