Maybe they should want some integrity in their program.I don't think Michigan boosters and fans want a coach that runs a life program. They want one who runs a football program.
But nothing would shock me in today's college football world.
If PJ leaves it’s a shit show IMOHopefully we don't have to find out but that is a tricky one because there are not a lot of obvious future head coach candidates on the current staff. When Rossi was here he would have been an obvious candidate for interim head coach. On the current staff my assumption is it would probably have to be Harbaugh.
Define traditional blue blood for me. Thanks! No traditional blue blood program in the country will ever hire PJ. He’s not nearly good enough on Saturdays.

These are just a few examples of coaches in the modern era that were hired by blue blood programs who had a comparable or lesser resume than PJ at the time they were hired. I say this not to argue that PJ is some coaching genius, but to illustrate that the bar for being hired at these jobs is lower than you may think.
I have no idea if Michigan will consider PJ for the job, but between his ability to win games and to stay free of controversy, it’s not exactly far fetched to think he could be a candidate, especially considering how late in the hiring cycle we are.
I think you overestimate Michigan boosters and fans.Maybe they should want some integrity in their program.
What do they all have in common? They didn't hire Fleck.I think people are going to find that the list of realistically available coaches who are equally or more accomplished than PJ is a lot smaller than you think. Penn State just hired a guy with a fairly comparable resume to PJ. Florida just hired a guy who has never coached at the P5 level. Notre Dame hired a guy with no head coaching experience a couple years ago.
I have no idea if Michigan has any interest in PJ, but if they see PJ as someone who's way beneath this job, there's a good chance they will be disappointed with whoever the hire is.
If the hiring committee got together and watched the games this year against Purdue, Northwestern, Michigan State, Iowa, Ohio State, and Oregon they would run in the other direction. That said, in another thread folks talked about how good Lindsey was at the end of some of those games and true that with a lot of other quarterbacks this season would’ve turned out a lot worse than it did.Brady Hoke

Not sure what your point is.What do they all have in common? They didn't hire Fleck.
Wittingham? If PJ leaves it’s a shit show IMO
No if Fleck left.Wittingham?
His show-cause expires at the end of the month. Somehow that punishment was for recruiting contact rather than systematically cheating. I wonder if he would have been the coach in waiting instead of Moore if he hadn’t committed those recruiting violations?Jesse Minter is popping up on a few lists. Seems like a very good potential pick. NFL playoffs might complicate timing wise.

The Michigan boosters I've met have said they'd take him, without the RTB. they love everything else.PJ is not in the top 100 for this job.
Unsurprising that RTB is the hardest sell for the helmet schools. I don't see Fleck dumping it to land a high profile job, either. It's woven into who he is and what his purpose is.The Michigan boosters I've met have said they'd take him, without the RTB. they love everything else.
IMO, the Michigan fans that I know want the best of both worlds but at the end of the day they'll default to the side of winning. You'll hear weird shit where they'll talk about how it's more difficult to win at Michigan than Ohio State/Alabama/Etc. because of their integrity but at the same time celebrate Dave Portnoy buying HS players (Underwood). The Michigan boosters I've met have said they'd take him, without the RTB. they love everything else.
I agree with this but this also is true of 99.9% of candidates they’re considering so they’re in a pickleIMO, the Michigan fans that I know want the best of both worlds but at the end of the day they'll default to the side of winning. Like a lot of folks who to give off the perception that have higher moral standards, they're full of sh!t. They want to win at the highest level but they want to pretend that they did it the "right way".
I don't think PJ would be a fit for them. He doesn't win at a high enough level.
Hairist! Jk. I sport a full flock of lucious curls and mock the bald every single day.Has Michigan ever have a bald head football coach? Ask in for a friend.
My Michigan booster buddy said the same thing. The Michigan boosters I've met have said they'd take him, without the RTB. they love everything else.
You don’t think he could win with a better talent pool? I get the argument that maybe it would be hard to recruit the true game changers with his RTB stuff, but I would love to see what he could do with real talent (preferably IN Minnesota!).I don't think PJ would be a fit for them. He doesn't win at a high enough level.
Yep. What's he's done here pretty much guarantees he'd be more successful at a school that dumps resources into their football program. The tolerance level for losses decreases exponentially, though. If RTB is the most important thing to him he'd be silly to leave the UYou don’t think he could win with a better talent pool? huh? I don't think Michigan is going to be worried about what the new coach might be able to bring with him talent wise. The reason to target Fleck would not be for what he is as a coach, it would be for what you think the potential is of Drake Lindsey, Koi Perich, and company that he would bring with him.
RTB won't fly at Mich, to the extent of changing uniforms. They would absolutely slap it on merch and maybe put some signs up around the stadium.
Sure you do, if he has a proven ready QB candidate that could win you another natty.huh? I don't think Michigan is going to be worried about what the new coach might be able to bring with him talent wise.
You don't target a coach because of a few potential short term transfers.
