Color me a little skeptical that this guy is tight enough with Michigan AD to know what the list looks like and where PJ falls on it but like I said in another post, I would not be shocked if he were higher on the list then some in here would expect him to be.Take this with a grain of salt but some podcaster named George Wrightster who played at Oregon is claiming PJ is #2 on the list after Kalen DeBoer. Don’t shoot the messager. I am throwing this out there as fodder for discussion or ridicule.
DungyI doubt it'll happen but it would be interesting to know who would be on Coyle's list if Fleck were to get the Michigan offer. Nick Rallis would probably be up there I would think. Probably would go the coordinator route as there's not a great deal of appealing options at this point in the cycle.
Doesn’t matter if he’s tight with the AD, that AD is about to lose their job and won’t be making this decision… no inside info but read the tea leaves.Color me a little skeptical that this guy is tight enough with Michigan AD to know what the list looks like and where PJ falls on it but like I said in another post, I would not be shocked if he were higher on the list then some in here would expect him to be.
My assumption is that there are some other bigger names they will go after first but it might not take very many No's for them to get to the point where a guy like Fleck becomes a real consideration.
Especially if they put a lot of stock in running a clean program because Fleck certainly seems to do that.
So is there a candidate besides Deboer that they wouldn't react that way for? Because there aren't many realistic candidates more qualified than PJ.PJ Fleck isn't getting the Michigan job, not only would their fanbase turn their noses up at him the boosters would pull their money.
I think he might have a tough time getting the top end recruits and transfers to buy into RTB and FAMILY culture. Just a hunch.I think he would be excellent at a top end program with resources.
If PJ were to leave they almost have to go with an interim for a year. A program like MN can't hire after the coaching cycle is already over. That's how you end up with Brewster.
There is a coach who's familiar with both the Gophers and being an interim coachI’m just not sure who you make interim from this current staff. 2026 would be a lost season regardless as PJ leaving would come with a mass exodus but it would definitely be interesting. Somebody is getting screwed big time by the Michigan hire unless they go interim, hope it’s not us.
Hopefully we don't have to find out but that is a tricky one because there are not a lot of obvious future head coach candidates on the current staff. When Rossi was here he would have been an obvious candidate for interim head coach. On the current staff my assumption is it would probably have to be Harbaugh.I’m just not sure who you make interim from this current staff. 2026 would be a lost season regardless as PJ leaving would come with a mass exodus but it would definitely be interesting. Your not suggesting a certain bar owner resident in Kansas, I hope. There is a coach who's familiar with both the Gophers and being an interim coach....
No though he meets the same qualifications.Your not suggesting a certain bar owner resident in Kansas, I hope.
PJ is not in the top 100 for this job.I think he might have a tough time getting the top end recruits and transfers to buy into RTB and FAMILY culture. Just a hunch.
Horton? There is a coach who's familiar with both the Gophers and being an interim coach....
I suddenly have a craving for chili
Jim Leonhard. Would be a solid hire, wonder if he’d take it.There is a coach who's familiar with both the Gophers and being an interim coach....
My buddy specifically said he wouldn't pull his (significant) contributions if PJ was hired, but he absolutely would if Brian Kelly is.PJ Fleck isn't getting the Michigan job, not only would their fanbase turn their noses up at him the boosters would pull their money.
He could switch his contributions to the real U of M.My buddy specifically said he wouldn't pull his (significant) contributions if PJ was hired, but he absolutely would if Brian Kelly is.
I heard Ben Johnson is availableIf PJ were to leave they almost have to go with an interim for a year. A program like MN can't hire after the coaching cycle is already over. That's how you end up with Brewster.
With Trestman as the OCDungy
Easily in the top 10.PJ is not in the top 100 for this job.
You must have started watching Gopher football in 2019Will some program, AD, college president.. just A N Y B O D Y — hire PJ away from us, we have suffered enough.
No traditional blue blood program in the country will ever hire PJ. He’s not nearly good enough on Saturdays.Easily in the top 10.
Revenge arcJim Leonhard. Would be a solid hire, wonder if he’d take it.
