Madison is clearly much more of college town than Minneapolis.

For some it is a selling point.

100% Agreeand then I started listing guys....ha.....I was thinking Tubby, Pitino, Ben era when I wrote the comment. Dutcher had a lot of NBA possible guys but we have had a lot of Minnesota guys in history too....Breuer, Landsberger, McHale, Lingenfelter, Rickert, Winter, John Thompson, Jim Petersen, Oturu, Coffey, Humphries, Mbakwe, Dusty Rychart, Arriel McDonald, Landsberger, Olberding, Przybilla, Ollie Shannon, Sam Jacobson and a bunch more I'm guessing I'm forgetting.

Top 10 of those from outside of Minnesota would include Ray Williams, Mychal Thompson, Trent Tucker, Willie Burton, Archie Clark, Melvin Newbern, Nate Mason, Jordan Murphy, Quincy Lewis, Bobby Jackson, Marcus Carr at least in the discussion plus those I'm forgetting.

If we make it make it single season versus career it's harder. Actually, a heated argument who our Top 10 single season Gophers are...especially depending on criteria...did we have to win games?
Fun to watch? Most talented?
 


Lenard was one of those dynamic players that other teams feared. While solid, I don't think that Coffey or Murphy had that same reputation.

Voshon absolutely belongs in a top ten list of all-time Gophers. He scored more career points than any Gopher ever. If not for the scandal and vacated stats, his jersey is in the rafters.

I will admit that the delay is concerning. The time to announce was right after the visit so he must be really torn and struggling to make a decision. Or maybe he's waiting to put together his live announcement on KARE 11?

He didn't commit soon after the visit. The Gophers are not the leader.

There could be a plethora of reasons why he didn’t commit soon after his visit.

Personally I find it best to not make important decisions based on emotional sentiment or the hue and cry of a free online community. Give it a breath and let it settle and then make a final choice - he ain’t on a Costco run.

You apparently haven't been to Costco with my wife. Not sure how you can spend that much time deciding what detergent box to buy.
 


Doogie says the Gophers "feel very good" about their chances of getting a commitment from Winter. Likewise for Evans.

Chatman - Doogie says the Gophers may not be showing as much interest as of late due mainly to the Christie commitment.

So we can say we cooled on him....


if we're not going after chatman hard for any reason outside of he's not expressing serious interest it's a fail IMO

He’s a top 30 talent, you think if he showed legit interest in us still we still wouldn’t work hard to land him. Especially considering what our roster consists of guard wise? Read the tea leaves on this one

If you get Christie, Winter and Evans is a pretty big success. Where are the scholarships going to free up next year? Only one Sr, Ben has expressed not wanting 13 scholarship players because they transfer out and I agree. Maybe one medically retires but the numbers don’t add up for 4 incoming players next year.

Garcia is done after one year. Battle could jump too. Expect a transfer or two. There is always room.

There has to be a push and a pull in the new transfer portal world. The athletes have been given increased freedoms to move around but with that coaching staffs are going to be forced to also treat it more like professional sports.

This is my long winded way of saying that in this new day, we'll find room.

IMO, that's a long reach. After watching him on tape, its obvious he needs to get stronger, especially on the D side. The sample size was small but his D was really weak defending the paint. Maybe he will make the big jump but he has a ways to go.+
