All Things Nolan Winter Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Offered, Son of Trevor)

its 25 vs 270 miles. If Nolan wants his family and friends see him play every home game he will choose 25

i would think NIL would be more substantial in a larger metro area - except in SEC country where the focus appears to be solely on sports. Is the U struggling with NIL compared to Bigten schools in small metro areas - Madison, Champaign, West Lafayette etc?

I disagree with this. I'd rather live in an actual city than in Madison. And guys can meet girls in Minneapolis just as easily as in Madison. With more variety.
C'mon man....it's the capital of Wisconsin. Again....hate the Skunks, but Madison is pretty cool.

The only real negative about Madison itself is that if you think politics are a part of your everyday life now, that's how it has been there for decades. They didnt try to make their motto "77 square miles surrounded by reality" for no reason. It's like if Austin, TX had a less attractive but cooler partying little brother.

In all fairness, with Madison being a smaller metro area, the city pretty much revolves around Badger sports, because there aren't many other options. You can't say the same thing about the Twin Cities and the Gophers.

now, the Twins Cities area and the U of MN have a lot of other things going in their favor.

But, if someone is looking for more of a "college town" atmosphere, then you're more likely to find that in Madison.

it all depends on your priorities. (but if "a great party scene" is high on your list of priorities, I would suggest not sharing that with your parents......)

As of the 2020 census the population of Madison was 269,840

Yep, and the population of Minneapolis is 424,536.

I was counting entire metro for Madison, as we do with the Twin Cities.

Madison is big enough to have suburbs and everything. Crazy, I know.

You're seriously trying to compare Madison to Minneapolis/St. Paul ??

Not in population, of course not. That was not at all my comparison.

I was responding to your post saying Madison was only 260k. I responded by saying that's like saying Minneapolis is only 420k. No one would say Minneapolis has only 420k people living there. We count the entire metro and talk about 3 million people. So, when counting the entire metro for Madison - it is more than 600K. And when counting the entire TV market is is over 1 million.

But, no, Madison is clearly not as big as Minneapolis, and no one would ever would claim that.

Honestly, I was simply trying to say Madison is a city, not a small town, as was earlier suggested. It is indeed a city with suburbs and businesses and most everything cities have.

Let's get it back to Nolan Winter and hope he commits to the bigger city team.

Guys I get how things get off topic, but the conversation between minnesota and Wisconsin has become tiresome. Start a new thread. I come on here to hope that I see where winter may go. Instead the only thing I've learned last couple of days is the beer is cold in both cities and minneapolis is bigger than madison. I know guys that have picked minnesota over wisconsin for whatever reasons and I know the opposite. I get were all excited and anxious right now, but can we keep it on winter?

The Winter recruitment is starting to bore the crap out of me. I couldn't care less if he goes to the U

The Evans recruitment has got me excited, though. Evans last 20 posts on twitter are all gopher related. No Kansas or other schools.

both would be huge gets for this team....Evans is obviously the top dog, but winters is the kind of instate player we gotta get locked in!

Man, we are in the top 2-3 on a 5 star player with a ton of steam and this board is laser focused on #175 because he’s from Lakeville.
Not surprising... there's been less success in recruiting the 5 star out of staters than solid legacy recruits from MN. There's little that we can do to influence their decisions either way except... get to the Purdue game later this month and help make Evans feel welcome during his visit!

Evans would be huge. Winter is starting to bore me too...just as he's starting to bore others on here.

Oh nay nay. That’s a false dichotomy.

We’re laser focused on who Evans will be celebrating Big Ten championships with.

See it’s the board’s collective confidence in our Guy Ben, that is the unspoken piece you’re missing.

Dillon Graff is a Badger Guy! HMMMMMM

Might be the attitude that if you can't get Winter what chance to you have with Evans

It’s so frustrating at times. It’s not like he is even dominant from in state competition. I get the feel good hometown hero story but man he might not even see the floor to his Jr year

i don't expect players to make meaningful contributions until their Jr year

I can kind of see what a gopher line up might look like that far out

no vision as to what Wisconsin might look like. Connor at guard, gus at center and thats about it

I hear ya, but he’s a forward that can shoot and space the floor. I like his game, but Betts is better. Our staff really wants him too it seems like?
