All Things Jarvis Johnson Thread

I hope Reid doesn't rub off on him too much.

Academic debates aside, I completely agree with what MadtownGopher is saying. That is always my worry with guys leaving the state for different schools. Every time someone leaves the state, it makes it that much easier for the next guy to bolt as well. If we had a recruiting "fence" around the state, there is pressure for the next big local kid to stay. Whether it has an impact or not, Jarvis will spend the season hanging out with Reid, talking about the McDy's AA game, hearing about Stanford, etc. As opposed to if Reid had chosen the U, Jarvis would see Reid spending time at the U, going to games, having Gopher fans cheering for him, etc. Whether this has an impact on Jarvis remains to be seen, but the more kids leave the state, the easier it is on the next one.

Go Gophers!!

I sure hope we keep Jarvis. He'd be massive for this program. I hope he's seeing what Li'l Dre is doing and realizing that in this offense, he'll be unstoppable.

I was surprised that Jarvis had this much communication with Kansas. I knew he visited earlier this year for Late Night in the Phog. A lot of times at Kansas the PG has to wait until their junior year to take the reigns like Naadir Tharpe. Hopefully we keep building a great relationship and the ability to earn early playing time will help him stay home!

yeah. Tyshawn Taylor, Elijah Thomas and now Nadir Tharpe all had to wait till their senior year to take the starting point guard reins

So Jarvis is willing to pay out of pocket for transportation and lodging for a unofficial visit to watch Bo Ryan's badgers .

Oh my darsh a recruit is checking out other schools, soooooooooooo shoooooockinggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it tells me Jarvis is serious about Wisc ...or why waste the mula and travel there on own dime in dead of winter.

I'd be surprised if he didn't check out other schools. It wouldn't be very smart, even if it was to our benefit.

It's really not a big deal.... That's what they said about Macura, Jones, Travis, and Vaughn when they were checking out other schools and taking multiple visits. If Jarvis was anywhere near a lock for the U he would not be taking multiple visits to other schools on his own dime

Who said he was a lock, there's a difference between favorite and lock and until proven otherwise I will say the U is the favorite

No one said he was a lock. Besides, he was in Kansas for Midnight Madness.

Don't be a drama queen.

Just so we're clear, that isn't my comment. Brain Trust said that in reply to my comment that it wasn't a big deal a bemidjigopher clumped our comments into one. I'm the one saying its really not a big deal. It's natural for recruits to consider all options.

THESCOUT!....I mean... The Brain Trust doesn't know how to quote properly so he threw everything off.

This was posted on bucky forum, not sure if any truth to it, I have some what connections to the kid, and all I know is that his family wants him to stay close to home for a reason I don't want to disclose, I'd guess wisconsin is close enough since he is considering Iowa State. I don't see him going to Kansas due to the distance, unless something dramatically changes and they do away with wanting him to close to home.

A poster on the Scout board claims to be from De La Salle HS and says that Jarvis Johnson currently has Wisconsin ahead of Minnesota. Also says that Johnson and Ellenson have talked about playing together.

It's a lie
