All Things Class of 2015 Recruiting - Class Finally Complete? Nope Chris Obekpa visit

Do we know Dorsey's shootimg percentages?

Also, if he commits before Johnson, then we can tell Johnson to kick rocks. It would send a message to Minnesota kids that they better commit early if they like Minnesota. The hometown school will not wait on you or be your safety school. We take good players from everywhere either get on board or go somewhere else.

I'm not sure Pitino would do this, but I have to admit I kind of like the message it would send. Every 3-4-5 star kid in the state pretty much views Minnesota as a safety school or a worst case scenario option. At some point that needs to change and I think the best way is for Pitino to continue to take advantage of his east coast pipelines.

No reason to do that. There's always going to be room for Jarvis if he wants to commit here!

What it takes is some success, and the local kids will take notice. Clem's Tournament runs with out-of-town kids and a couple lightly-recruited locals paved the way for top local recruits like Jacobson and Pryzbilla to sign on. And El-Amin was signed on before Russ punched him out. Clem could have also had Troy Bell and Jake Sullivan if he'd been a better judge of talent.

We're like that slightly chubby kid who hangs out with the popular crowd in highschool. If you're a good looking co-ed you try your hardest to get with the QB of the football team, if that fails, find the star of the BBall team, if that fails you've always got the nice chubby guy thats been giving you the eyes for years to take you to prom.

Time to shed that weight, get a new hairstyle, maybe a wardrobe change, buy a new car and bang those cheerleaders!

It is a problem, and Johnson is not nearly good enough to deserve a guaranteed spot.

I tend to agree with you, Johnson has a ton of physical ability but at this point he isn't even the best PG on Howard Pulley, if someone like Dorsey commits there might not be a spot for him.

Interesting thing about the 2015 rankings is that Nick Noskowiak (from Madison area) is up to #50 and Jarvis is now out out of the rankings. Wonder if Wisconsin will ever regret not going after Noskowiak harder. He was right in their backyard and they let him go to Marquette.

Not surprising regarding Jarvis. I really want him to succeed, but his production just hasn't been there. I really wished it would have worked out with Wally. Henry is going to be a dominant college post player. Alex is at the top of my list for 2015. He is a very crafty offense player. Very good shooter beyond the arch and has a very polished post game. Seems like a perfect fit for a Billy Donovan type offense.

I'm sure all things considered, they'd be happy to have him, but supposedly he wasn't "their type" of PG. Of course, there are good and bad examples of guys they've avoided for those reasons.

A class of Kevin Dorsey, Kenny Williams, Chris Clarke and Alex Illikainen would have me giddy. In fact, it makes me giddy just thinking about it. Would be really interesting to get three quality players from Virginia in one class too.

Replace Williams with Manyang and I agree.

Maybe Jarvis can have a Josh Martin esque summer, fall out of the graces of many big suitors. Then sign with the gophers (slightly fat kid in highschool) and prove everyone wrong!

Sacar Anim back to a 3 star.

I wouldn't worry about it! ESPN does a $hitty job at best with their rankings and "evaluations" nowadays. They really aren't aware at all of recent player success and development.

They did put Alex back in the top 100 though. He had a grade of 77, now its an 84. I don't know why they ever dropped him to 77 in the first place though.

There is some truth to this, but Johnson has struggled against the best competition. And Anim is limited offensively. Neither should be top 100 players.

Yeah, any rube can see Alex's potential. He can shoot the 3 at a good rate and has a very mature post game. As he gets stronger he will have a greater impact rebounding and defensively. As I've said earlier, he is my top target for Minnesota.

ESPN guys like Biancardi and Rankin obviously have not seen Chris Clarke or Ed Morrow play before... Both definitely deserve to go top 100. I'd out money down that both will be in the top 100 when rivals comes out with their new rankings.

Marcus: Gophers recruiting: 2015 PG target Kevin Dorsey shines in All-American camp; will visit this month

So it’s a good thing the 5-foot-11, 170-pound point guard from Fairfax, VA already has the University of Minnesota at the top of the list of schools he wants to visit this month. Dorsey has been in constant contact with Gophers coach Richard Pitino and assistant Kimani Young this spring.

“I really like coach Pitino and coach Young a lot,” Dorsey told the Pioneer Press. “I’ll take most of my visits in June once I get the SAT out of the way. But I need to take a visit out there.”

“If it were up to us, 2015 point guard Kevin Dorsey would have made the top All-Star game at camp,” Bossi wrote on Monday. “The Rivals150 guard is angling pretty hard for four-star status.”

Go Gophers!!

McBrayer, I believe, reclassified from a 2014 to a 2015 kid. Played for New Heights, but Seton Hall is also involved. Could be a kid that both Coach Young and Coach McHale have been aware of for awhile .

From Adam Zagoria regarding McBrayer:

'Meantime, Seton Hall, Minnesota and Pittsburgh have all offered him and are recruiting him hard. McBrayer said all three schools are recruiting him for 2015.

“All three of those schools are recruiting me pretty hard right now,” he said. “They’re going to wait until 2015.”

Minnesota assistant Kimani Young is also from New York and has been recruiting McBrayer.

“I was talking to Kimani because he’s from Queens, too,” he said. “I also talk to coach [Richard] Pitino.”

McBrayer considers himself a natural point guard who can play both guard spots.'

I don't think I agree with the bolded part. UW had an plenty of time to contact Noskowiak once he de-committed from Marquette, but he told at least one UW recruiting site that the Badger staff never called him. He was also quoted in a Rivals article as saying that he would love to be recruited by UW. I suspect UW knows everything they could want to know about Nick and decided that they simply did not want him.

I am surprised that he did not drop in the rankings after playing in the EYBL this spring. The team (Playground Elite with Henry Ellenson) did not do particularly well, and while Nick had a couple big games, his overall play did not seem to be all that strong. From the EYBL stats, he averaged 12 ppg, but that was on less that 40% shooting from the floor in total and less than 30% shooting from downtown. In 13 games, he had more fouls than assists and only 25 assists to 18 turnovers. I'm not trying to knock Noskowiak, but I've always thought his ranking in the top 50 or 60 in the 2015 class was a little too high.
