All Things Charles Buggs Thread - Season Long Updates on the Future Gopher

11 and 6 isn't a bad stat line on a team like that. It's not like when a high-major prospect plays at a typical public high school and gets 75% of the team's shots. Not enough shots to go around for everyone on a team like this.

Exactly. He probably plays about half the minutes so 11 and 6 is fine. If he were playing for a Minnesota high school team he'd be playing he entire game, scoring 25 and we would have locals claiming how great he is.

If, as an upperclassman at the U he can play defense & average 10pts, 6rebs, we'll have us a hell of a player.

We re-titled this thread so that updates, analysis, stories, links and videos can be posted in one spot all season long on the future Gopher.

hargrave has tons of talent. charles does start, which actually says a lot.

as many have mentioned, 11 and 6 is a nice line on that team. if you will notice NINE players scored in double figures in that particular game.

btw - those guys hardly ever pass the ball. charles is unselfish almost to a fault. I believe he had 9 assists in one of the first games.

very excited to follow his development. his offer list after blowing up so late says it all. ACC, Big East, SEC, Big 12, Big 10 - schools from every conference wanted him.

Xavier-bound guard Myles Davis had 6 three-pointers, all of which came in the first half, as did 22 of Davis’ 26 points overall. Hargrave broke it open early and started to blow away ND Prep towards the middle of the second half. Ambrose Mosley contributed with 22 points and four rebounds, Codi Miller-Mcintyre had a near triple-double 10 points, eight boards, eight assists and showed off his athleticism on a put-back dunk. Hargrave also got standout contributions from Ryan Taylor, who had 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Montrezl Harrell, who was unguardable the entire contest, he finished 27 points and seven rebounds.

Codi Miller-McIntyre (27 points), Ryan Taylor (26 points 11 rebounds), and Montrezl Harrell (18 points on 9-11 shooting) combined to score 71 of Hargrave’s 90 points in their victory over Bridgton. Taylor and Harrell were able to dominate inside on both ends of the floor, and each had a few drunks that left the crowed in awe. St. John’s-bound stars Amir Garrett and Darrick Wood scored 20 and 17 points, respectively, both scoring on a variety of crafty dribble drives and outside shots. Malik Nichols poured in 17, while Markus Crider had 18 points on 7 for 10 shooting for Bridgton.

From the Mount St. Mary's preview - other notes & comments portion.

2012 Gopher commit Charles Buggs and his Hargrave Military Academy team was in Connecticut for Friday and Saturday games at the National Prep Showcase. The annual event includes a number of top prep programs. Unfortunately, Buggs was limited on Friday and did not play on Saturday due to what is being described as a sinus infection.

It's been widely reported that Charels Buggs scored 18.9 ppg this past summer. If you find the Web site for his AAU team, however, you can easily add up his points which add up to 107 for 12 games. 107/12 = 8.9. I wonder if Tubby knows that 18.9 is wrong.

I see lots of stats from Hargrave players, none from Buggs though. Gopher basketball at its best.

Teams like Michigan, Indiana and Iowa all have very highly regarded recruiting classes signed for 2012. Tubby better be right about the kids he is bringing in next season. Is Buggs a future high impact player? Who knows. His stats certainly don't suggest that but there is much more that goes into evaluating talent.

Personally, I don't think Wally will be more than a roll player. He comes from a conference that rarely (almost never) produces Division I level talent; let alone high level DI talent. Evan Anderson from Eau Claire North is the only player I can think of to sign with a major school from the Big Rivers and he is a major project for the Badgers.

BUT, next season the Hollins boys will be ready to explode and guys like Joey Colman, Mo Walker and Oto will round out a good team.

How about Wally's dad John who played in the Big Rivers and played for Marquette and then the badgers?

How about Wally's dad John who played in the Big Rivers and played for Marquette and then the badgers?

And how long ago was that?

I say almost never because whenever anybody from that conference signs with even a low major Division 1 team its a big deal.

Noticed he isn't officially listed as a recruit of ours on the Gopher Hole Grid? Is that a mistake or forshadowing?

Not sure why he hasn't shown up in some of the write-ups but I asked the Hargrave basketball twitter account if Buggs is injured and they responded with, "HargravePGHoops: Charles is back playing and playing very well."
