All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I doubted that they would restart tonight, much less rally in the 9th.

I was unaware of the restart and my DVR stopped during the 90 minute Rain Delay.

Pleasant surprise to find out the Twins Win!

I don't think I have ever seen or heard Ichiro talk. Great speech.

I think he was honing his skills to hit the dinner circuit in the nearby Catskills.

Mariners are reportedly interested in Castro and relief pitchers. Maybe Falvey can set a new personal best and acquire three already injured pitchers in the deal.

Correa's not in today's lineup. I'm hopeful it's more than Rocco babying players with owies, but I doubt that's the case here.

Not sure if Culpepper is ready yet, but he's SS of future.
On the other hand, Correa left yesterday's game with illness. Maybe he's still sick. Hasn't hit like we hoped, but he's been a great shortstop.

CLEAN HOUSE!!

Reusse: A look at Timberwolves’ front office moves should make Twins GM Derek Falvey nervous

We do know this: When the sale takes place, the future leaders of the Twins’ baseball operation won’t be doubling up in a lower-priced hotel on a scouting mission.

And when this person with access to billions leads the investment group, I’m thinking that Derek Falvey, now president for business and baseball, and others in vital positions should have their résumés updated.

And then there was this recent quote from Falvey on the Twins’ plans for the trading deadline:

“The job is to evaluate what comes our way and navigate in any direction possible. … I’ve never considered a label on what we do here. And that’s going to be our deadline every year. Quite frankly, I’ve never pivoted from that.”

Stick to that gobbledygook with a new owner, Mr. Falvey, and there figures to be someone else handling the 2026 trading deadline.

Win Twins!!

He's been a very good defensive shortstop. That's about all the praise I can muster for him. Having a shortstop in this day and age who doesn't really hit for power and is less aggressive on the bases than Cal Ripken Jr. when he was in his 30s is less than ideal.

This year even Correa's play at SS is not great. Actually below average, by some metrics.

Agreed.

Even we give him credit for what he was defensively, a glove first SS, with limited power is not worth even a quarter of what he makes, so anyone who will take even some of that money off our books is a godsend.

July 30: Jhoan Duran market picking up steam

The Twins could be getting closer to trading flamethrowing righty Jhoan Duran. A source told MLB com’s Mark Feinsand that “things are moving” on the 27-year-old, who is under club control through 2027.
According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the Phillies are "one of the more aggressive teams" in pursuit of Duran, though The Athletic (subscription required) reports that Philadelphia isn't willing to part with top prospect Andrew Painter in any deal. The Red Sox, Mariners, Blue Jays and Yankees are in the mix for Duran as well.
From mlb.com.

The Mariners have an insane amount of prospects with 8 in the top 70. That includes a 22 year old, MLB ready catcher.
