All Things 2023 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Correa and Buxton 0 for 8 with 5 strikeouts. Not helpful.

Trending toward mirroring the Wolves' season where you rack up some nice wins over good clubs...and then repeatedly piss down your legs against the bottom of the barrel.

Had anyone heard of any of the 5 pitchers that the tigers trotted out today to dazzle the twins? I feel like Cisnero has been a tiger for a while, after that it was like a who’s who’s of crap.

This line-up is simply not good. Vazquez is terrible. Gallo and Taylor are worthless 4 days out of 5. Buxton is totally lost right now, but we're going to insist on hitting him 3rd or 4th and having a black hole in the middle of the line-up. I don't care what roster move you have to make, Wallner and Larnach should both be on this roster and playing every day against RH pitching.

And they have terrible fundamentals. Solano over-runs 3rd and costs them a run. Should be 2-0 with Ryan cruising. Then stone hand Julien can't make a routine play and the inning blows up.

A shake-up of the manager/front office is so badly needed. In some ways the worst thing that can happen is winning the division with 83-84 wins and running this brain trust back again.

Definitely no Denny McLain on the mound last night. Hard to imagine any pitcher ever getting 31 wins again. To me even more remarkable is Matt Blair's 20 blocked kicks. Different times.

Looks like they are going bullpen game today. Why not start Winder and try to get 3 or 4 innings from him instead of burning him in a lost cause last night?

In the month of June, Tigers have more wins against the Twins than they have against all other teams combined. And against top of our rotation. Ugh. We've seen 6 wks of this, keep waiting for us to turn it around. Hopefully starts today.

I must have watched a different game. I saw Gray being unable to control his pitches - unable to hit his spots - and struggling as much as he has all season. 79 pitches in 4 innings - only 45 for strikes. walked 4 batters. a long and difficult 4th inning.

I have no problem with pulling Gray after the 4th inning. Now, the relief pitchers did not do their job. So people second-guess pulling Gray because the Twins lost. that does not make it a bad decision. it just means that the other pitchers didn't do their job.

the decisions that don't work out fail 100% of the time - and are easy to second-guess.

I am NOT saying that Rocco should be up for Manager of the Year. I don't get the sudden fascination with platooning. but I don't blame Rocco for Gray having a bad outing. and that's what we had here - Gray having a bad outing.

The top of the order was 0/6 against Gray on 19 pitches

You absolutely let your ace battle through it. Every fucking team in baseball besides one managed by Rocco does.

Literally, every. single. team.

I see Arraez went 5 for 5 last night to get his avg up to .390. I have no problem with the trade but quite a season for him so far.

Well, at least one guy made contact. This Orel Hershiser guy for the Tigers is pretty good.

Joey Wentz entered today with an era over 7......in 56 innings so this isnt a 1 or 2 start fluke.

And we currently have ZERO base runners through 3.

Wallner and Larnach are in AAA because???? Just play the youth.

Holy shit!!! A baserunner. And the crowd goes wild!!!

Followed with a thing called a "hit". Amazing.

Part of me doesn’t want more young guys to continue to be exposed to this crap. There’s clearly an issue with strategy/philosophy.

I think I just fainted. 2 of these "hit" things in a row makes this magical thing called a "run".

Thats a fair point as well.

The fact the offense has gotten worse as the year has went along is massively concerning.

The crowd got excited because Buxton actually put a ball in play. Granted still an out, but...
