All Things 2023 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

An update on the shooting at guaranteed rate field. I would imagine she was a big gal.

I would also be ok with the twins putting in a waiver claim on any of these players especially Lopez and Renfroe. I now it would cost cole sands his job, but Lopez would be a good addition to the pen

In addition:

Ken Rosenthal

@Ken_Rosenthal

Other players currently on waivers, per sources: Yankees OF Harrison Bader, Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco, White Sox RHP Mike Clevinger, Tigers RP José Cisnero. Claims awarded in reverse order of winning percentage as of Thursday. Teams on fringes of wild-card race likely to be most aggressive claimers.

It took being down 4-0 until the comeback last night, so hurry up and get down 4-0.

I would take Cisnero.

9 LOB through 5 complete. Uffda.

Carlos with a hell of a 7th inning. Deciding to not catch a pop up to let a faster runner get on base. Who then steals second and scores. Followed by his league leading GIDP in the bottom.

Twinkies have mitigated the issue by not reaching base safely innings 6-8.

My bad, even though I was there, I forgot about the GIDP (which also helped keep the LOB from double digits).

The intentional Fielder's Choice was a head scratcher, compounded with 2 Pagan failed pick-off attempts meant the runner could have stolen 2nd standing up. 3rd failure would have been a balk, but at that point I would have tried it anyway. Only chances at being caught stealing were if he tripped or overslid.

I don't think he was a clubhouse cancer, but Kevin Maas holds a special place of scorn in my heart, from his very brief time in '95 with the Twins. I recall just after the strike and for myself, just out of college, making the drive with a friend from Winona to the Metrodome to catch a game with tickets dirt cheap, as attendance was an issue at all stadiums. My endearing memory is Maas committing two critical errors in the game and the Twins losing. A look at Baseball Reference tells me that he played 8 games at 1B for the Twins and committed three errors over those games. Not stellar.

Will be interesting to see if there is an effect on the Rays (currently playing @Miami and then are off to Guard Town) when they’re scheduled to play home games early next week as Idalia looks to be a nasty gal and they’ve already started canceling flights in and out of Tampa airport.

The panhandle of FLA has never had a Cat 3+ make landfall there and she may ramp up to a 4 before she strikes.

I think Donaldson, Lynn, and Herr should be top 3, since we gave big contracts or traded a lot for.

Boone was on the down swing and just got released, and Howe was a coke head on a comeback.

Still a great list.

Still cant believe Twins gave up Bruno after 87' and Gladden after 91'

Boone scored so high in the Doofus category that he get's my top spot.

Shipping Bruno off for Herr still hurts. At least that blunder was offset by eventually acquiring Mack.
