All Things 2023 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Strung hits together with great ABs.

Impressive inning and fun to watch a ⚾️ fly that far - wowza

It sure would be nice if the twins had more than 1 lefty in the bullpen. The 7th inning the tigers sent up 3 lefties and they had a walk, triple, homerun. Having Thielbar as the only lefty on the roster is an issue and it will not be solved by the 2 non starter left handed pitchers on the roster.

Down 8-4 going into the bottom of the ninth. Two run HR by Polanco followed up by a HR by Kepler.....and the Twins are only down one with zero outs.

Kody Funderburk could be the left handed bullpen savior for the twins. Of course he’s no on the 40 man so someone on this overalls talented team would have to go. Have no idea if his numbers translate, but he’s striking out 1.5 an inning. Clearly the twins need some other lefty in the pen of Thielbar can’t pitch after pitching in 3 of 4.

Swap him for Cole Sands or Keuchel or DFA Gallo. Clearing a 40 man spot is not hard.

Apparently Rocco has said they do not expect Buxton back before September. Buxton is reportedly doing some hitting and running, but is not ready for a rehab assignment yet. Sounds like a similar timeline for Kirilloff. Brock Stewart is back to a throwing program and will pitch some bullpen sessions in a week or so.

and in a remarkable coincidence, MLB rosters expand to 28 players in September.

Just shut buxton down and have him see every dr in the world to figure out what's wrong with his knee

Eddie getting picked off first likely cost us a run, as did Vasquez’s throwing error; the boyz need to tighten up the ship and stop beating themselves.

He clearly isn't producing and not helping the team. I agree, shut him down, get healthy so that he will be much more productive next year. A band-aide approach isn't going to work.

the current problem for Buxton is the hamstring. No idea if the rest will help his knee or not. The Twins - and you can understand why - have not provided a lot of details about the exact nature of Buxton's knee. If it is tendinitis, there are some surgical remedies, but recovery can take from 8 months to a year. But there is also a condition called tendinosis - which is where the tendon is degenerative. that one is worse.

so depending on the nature of the problem, just shutting him down may not provide any long-term benefit. it sucks for Buxton and it sucks for the Twins. I just hope they got an insurance policy when they signed him to the contract.

Reusse says they are considering trying to get him in the OF when he returns and only have him start 3-4 games/week since the DH thing is not working and they need a spot for Lewis/Polanco/Julien.

Can we cut off Buxtons leg and put on a blade thing like oscar pistorius. That works well for him except for the whole attempted murder of his wife thing.
