All Things 2023-2024 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Only down 13-0 to start.

Just another awesome start to a game.

Just Unreal

The Suns would sweep the wolves in the playoffs. Gawd, what a mismatch.

They are the last team I want the Wolves to see.
I don't understand why. Last time we gave them the excuse of the warriors hangover. No excuses this time. I don't think they are a terrible matchup for them. But they've just played awful against suns

The Wolves had plenty of opportunities to get back into the game last night, but they just couldn't even make a layup, let alone a jumpshot. Maybe they got caught up in some final 4 festivities the night before.

Bad night for everyone, but the Wolves are still in 1st.

Mid range super stars. We can't seem to guard their two headed monster.

Never said it was. We struggle with mid range teams. Just the way it is. New Orleans and Phoenix just cause the Wolves to stumble.

They defended the mid-range without much of an issue though, and held them 20 points under their season average. The Wolves just couldn't score when they needed it and missed a bunch of layups and open shots. They would have lost to anyone shooting like that.

I still don't want to see Phoenix in the playoffs.

The Timberwolves lost to the Suns by double-digits for the second time in as many trips to Phoenix this season with Friday’s 97-87 defeat.

So, obviously, the Wolves don’t want to play the Suns in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

But then there are the Pelicans, who, in the two meetings between the two teams that featured Zion Williamson, also beat the Wolves by double figures. You don’t want to see them in Round 1, either.

Then there’s the Dallas Mavericks. The only time the Wolves played against the dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, they dropped a close one in Texas. So, surely that’s not a desirable Western Conference quarterfinal opponent.

And the Lakers — Sunday’s opponent in Los Angeles — I mean, who would want to see LeBron James and Anthony Davis early in any postseason run?

The reality is, in the NBA’s stacked Western Conference, you can talk yourself into any team likely outside of Sacramento — which has beaten Minnesota twice at Target Center this season, but lost two key guards in Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk to injury for the season — as the team you don’t want to face in the first round of the playoffs.

Because they’re all good, and they all present certain challenges. Even the Warriors, for all their struggles at various points of this season, are going to win maybe 46 games. For reference, the Kings were the No. 3 seed a year ago with just 48 victories. Oh, and the Warriors obviously have Steph Curry.

Everyone is good..

Wolves are out in L.A. to play the Lakers tonight at 9:00. The game will be shown nationally on NBA TV. Wolves are 3-2 in their last 5. They played Friday night when they lost to Phoenix.

Lakers have won 4 in a row and they are 4-1 in their last 5. Though they did play the Cavaliers just last night.

Been a very fun game. 59 - 54 Wolves with 5:00 to go in the 1st Half.

Wolves beat the Lakers by 10, 127-117.

Naz Reid had a big game and the Lakers pleyed without LeBron and Anthony Davis played a grand total of 12 minutes then got hit in the eye and left the game. The Wolves had a 20 point lead in the 3rd but the Lakers chipped away and got it to 4 but the Wolves didn't let them get any closer.

Game was a reverse of their last game when the Wolves played on 3/10 the Wolves were without KAT, Gobert and SloMo and the Lakers won by 11.

Wow! Another 'surprising' win without KAT!

The Wolves are now a 'surprising'
14-5 .737 - without KAT, and Rudy for 2 of the losses
41-19 .683 with KAT

No games scheduled tonight so these standings will hold until Tuesday. Then the Wolves host the Wizards, Clippers are at Phoenix, Sacramento is at OKC, Denver at Utah and Golden State is at the Lakers. The Lakers should have LeBron back but not sure about Davis.

That Bulls loss hurts. Wolves probably need to go 3-1 the rest of the way to get #1 seed, but the wolves have to beat Nuggets on Wednesday. It'd be nice to win the next 3 and sit everyone in the regular season finale.

That will be the biggest game of the year. How weird is it to have the biggest game of the year be for the top spot in the West. It usually is to get into the playoffs (8th spot) or to get the last spot for the lottery.

KAT coming back. Would be nice to win the next 2 and work back KAT in the last 2. I have no idea what integrating KAT will be like, but could be ugly
