Smith is cooked and should be released asap. Two relievers are needed, but in the meantime put Archer in the bullpwn and Winder back in the rotation. And get Manaya back up.Why did we bring in Joe Smith to pitch. horrible Rocco horrible.

That last part is what so confusing. The entire twins philosophy is to not let starters face the lineup for a third time. So that means you’re gonna put a lot of pressure on your bullpen. Yet that is one place they refuse to spend money on free agents and it also seems like the position that they trade from. As you pointed out Duran was not good last year and was injured and yet they were relying on him to be an all world player in the bullpen. Tyler Duffey has been bad since 2020 so they were expecting him to come back to his form from 2019. Griffen Jax was a starter that couldn’t cut it and not w he’s your 2ned best bullpen option behind only Duran. The only feee agent they signed was a left my specialist in Joe Smith who has certainly regressed back to the means from his start.I completely get the approach of pulling starters early. The numbers below show why it makes sense. The two issues I’ve had is 1) If the starter is throwing well and/or you have a comfortable lead, I don’t see the problem with letting him start another inning all while have a guy warming up in the bullpen. Maybe it’s as simple as “you allow a base runner, you’re getting pulled”. 2) If you’re going to use this strategy of pulling starters after 2 times through the lineup, then you have to have a strong and deep bullpen. Hell, Duran had never throw a pitch before this year so that was up in the air how good he’d be. Luckily he’s been great.

Win Twins!!
At this point I think there's a good chance Correa will be back next year. So far he's been solid but not good enough to be worthy of a big long-term contract if he opts out of the current contract.
They may not be big buyers at the deadline if they continue to struggle after the break but I don't see them really blowing things up either. Sanchez, Duffey, and Joe Smith are the only free agents. My guess is they'll make a ho-hum bullpen trade that won't get anyone excited. But at the same time they should be set up to be really good next year if they try shoring up the bullpen. If Maeda can get back to his old self, there's not reason they shouldn't try to make a real run at it next year.I agree, unless he has a big 2nd half.
Let's see how the first 6-7 games go after the break before 'blowing everything up' as some would like to do. If they continue to struggle, then I'm for it. As long as Rocco goes too.
This is the right take. If Soto is being traded that would really hurt any market for Correa at the trade deadline in my opinion. I hope the twins just stand Pat and whatever happened happens.I agree, and there's really not much to trade to 'blow it up'. The closest would be if they tried to trade Correa. There is a lot of young talent on this team and players that are close to MLB ready in the minors.
I don’t think so. But it’s a great move for the all-star game.
Coming soon to the regular season too.
If they can go out and get a guy like Bednar who’s under contract for awhile, that would be good.If Soto is being traded that would really hurt any market for Correa at the trade deadline in my opinion. I hope the twins just stand Pat and whatever happened happens.

I like this plan.Honestly I would rather see them trade Correa for two potential all star pitchers as opposed to a large package with some maybes. Even as not great as Correa has been he’s still going to opt out at the end of the year and look for some sort of long term deal. It is just what Scott Boras does with everyone. If there are no takers he can come right back to the twins and I am sure get the sam contract he is on.
I'm pretty sure he's coming back. Assuming he opts out, Xander Boegarts is a free agent next year, as are Trea Turner and Dansby Swanson. All three of those guys are having better seasons than Correa. The free agent shortstops available in 2024 have no where near that type of talent, so it's Correa or bust for a team that wants to make a splash at SS that season. At this point I think there's a good chance Correa will be back next year. I’m talking potential all star players not current all stars. Like the package the twins got for Johan it was more fluff then real substance. Give me 1 or two guys that are almost sure things over 3 guys that are 50/50 shots and 3 other guys that are 20/80 shots. There's no way another team would do that.

When the NHL started Shootouts to decide Regular Season games I joked that it would be like settling MLB games with an HR Derby or NBA games with a round of H-O-R-S-E.
Coming soon to the regular season too.
Even then I don't know if teams would do that. By "almost sure things", you're talking about high end prospects that are almost ready like Grayson Rodriguez. No one is going to make that trade.I’m talking potential all star players not current all stars. Like the package the twins got for Johan it was more fluff then real substance. I doubt that.
