All Things 2021 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Sadly, Shoemaker is not being skipped, I believe he starts Friday. They wanted to give Pineda an extra day. That's why they will need Smeltzer. Thorpe can probably only go 4 innings best case, and the rest of the bullpen is gassed except for Colome.
Let' skip to the inevitable and start Colme, so I can turn it off after half an inning.

I hate to say it, and I hope they turn it around and I'm ultimately wrong, but this team ain't winning anything this year.

it's sounding like the Kirilloff injury may be more serious.

Rocco said it "does not appear to be minor." In Rocco-speak, that means it's serious. Considering how cautious they are with injuries, we could be talking weeks, not days.

Considering he's had wrist issues before, I think it's a given. I'll be thrilled if he's back within 2 weeks.

Again, I have no expectations whatsoever with Nick Gordon, but put the man in a lineup for crying out loud. These kids work their whole lives to get called up to the big leagues. If they send him down again without getting him in a game again, that's a scummy way to run a team.
And it's not like there are 9 guys that are tearing the cover off the ball.

The Computer doesn't say to start him. What do you want Rocco to do? Disobey?

And get Larnach up as well.

This. Cave's continued presence on the roster is a joke. And Garlick is batting clean-up tonight. Lol.
Jake Cave -

Better name for porn star (too bad he isn't a switch hitter)?
OR
Action Hero?

I am back to boycotting them and will not fold this time, till we are at .500% or two games out.

Polanco gives a run to them when he can't give Simmons a half decent flip for the double play and then in our half, bases loaded with no outs and Polanco can't put the ball in play and Kepler hits a dirbbler back to the mound. That's the game.

Back to the Mets for now, at least their booth calls them out when they make bad plays instead of being a cheerleader like Bremer .

Nick Gordon with a walk, single and a pair of stolen bases in his first two plate appearances.

Twins had a 1 run lead and Robbles give up a game tying homer. nothing new from this bullpen.

LOL, the Twins are snake bit. I'm actually kind of rooting for them to lose in extra innings at this point. How long can this curse last?

What's the longest number of games he's played consecutively in his career without an injury? I would love to know if anybody has that info. His high water mark for AB's in a season is 462, and the 2nd most AB's he's had is 298.

I am utterly convinced that a big market team will offer him a decent 4+ year contract, with the knowledge that they can just buy another player if he gets hurt. The Twins obviously can't afford that, and probably can't (nor should) offer anything more than a 2 year contract when he is FA eligible.

Time to cut dead weight and play the kids. Cut Sano, Cave and Shoemaker (after tonight's start.) Call up Rooker, Larnach and Dobnak. Broxton can replace Buxton in CF. Gordon should be the new 2B. Simmons and Polanco can share SS since neither can hit right now.

I'm good with them also giving some innings to some of the young pitchers. Balazovic and Duran need to see some innings even if it is out of the pen. It isn't like they're routinely throwing in game situations anyway.
