All Things 2014 Basketball Recruiting Thread

Found the original quote from Tommy...."Right now, there is a chance of three transfers, two obvious, one not so much. Piper loved his visit!"

I think that I was assuming the two "obvious" transfers would be some combination of Wally/Buggs/Oto. But the "not so much" wouldn't be Shell, because he isn't transferring (assuming he would lose his scholarship next year though?). If Tommy has a legitimate source, there could potentially be additional news. I'll let Tommy speak for himself in the future, but his name was brought up in this thread. Just got me thinking.

I'f sure Shell's is for this year/semester only....if that's a question here.

I still don't buy into what he stated, since he said 3 transfers, oto is not is not transferring, and still no word if wally is transferring officially from the school.

And if he does have sources, they obvious ones were buggs, oto, and wally. Not sure anyone would have said they would have been surprised if oto left, so if his source is correct, there is one major shakeup waiting to happen. I can't see anyone having a good reason for leaving besides maybe one of Mo/EE, but even that is a stretch since both seem to really like it here.

Who knows... Maybe someone decides last minute to transfer to Stanford..

Pretty good offer list: Georgia, Ga Tech, Oklahoma State, Florida State, etc.

Courier Journal: Oklahoma State offers Jackson Davis; Indiana among many expected to watch him soon

The frequent developments in the recently reopened recruitment of Lafayette High forward Jackson Davis continued on Tuesday with him earning a scholarship offer from Oklahoma State’s Travis Ford during the coach’s visit to Lexington.

“Travis was sold 15 minutes into practice,” Davis’ father, Johnathan, a friend and former teammate of Ford’s for a season at the University of Kentucky, said.

The Cowboys’ offer is Davis’ eighth since the longtime Rice commitment reopened his recruitment a week and a half ago, joining Vanderbilt, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Butler, Central Florida, Florida State and Alabama.

The list is unlikely to stop there as Davis leads the Generals into this week’s 11th Region Tournament and then, possibly the Sweet 16.

Johnathan Davis said Indiana, Boston College, Tulane, Arizona State, Oregon, George Washington, Baylor, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Tennessee are all expected to come watch his son this week.

Zags Blog: Pitinos May Go Two-Deep to Watch Jackson Davis

Jackson Davis may be the hottest name in recruiting in the country right now.

How hot is the 6-foot-8 2014 power forward from Lexington (KY) Lafayette?

The Pitino Family may go two-deep to watch him play Friday night.

Minnesota coach Richard Pitino, who is recruiting Davis, has enlisted the help of his father, Louisville coach Rick Pitino, who may attend the game in support of Richard, Johnathon Davis told SNY.tv. Louisville is not currently recruiting Davis.

What could Rick possibly do to help us? "Hey Davis, it's really not that cold in Minnesota. The Barn is great, my son wore a chicken suit and it made the news for days. That practice facility issue is so overblown. They'll get one eventually. If you stay for 5 years, you might get to use it for 6 months! Go to Minnesota. The girls are a little bigger but they cover it up with sweatshirts all year so you can hardly notice! Skol!"

I would guess that it's an opportunity for father/son time together. Rich is going to KY, why not have dad come and watch some basketball together....

Not everything needs to be about basketball 24 hours a day.

Then Gopherhole needs to be a little more selective with their tweets:

I think you're just looking in the wrong places, furry

Well, it got both of us to post.

afurry, looks like GH is just tweeting what Zags is reporting, that Rick may in fact join Richard in helping recruit Jackson. Don't blame the messenger.

Minnesota coach Richard Pitino, who is recruiting Davis, has enlisted the help of his father, Louisville coach Rick Pitino, who may attend the game in support of Richard, Johnathon Davis told SNY.tv. Louisville is not currently recruiting Davis.

I'm sold!

Wow this kid can shoot for a PF. He'd be a great change up to what Martin is going to bring.

He's also got some hops, at least one post move, and is clutch. Sign him now!

He's kind of what we always hoped Oto would be. Would be a good way to use Oto's scholarship.

The link to Zagoria's article is now saying the elder Pitino is not expected to attend.

What could Rick possibly do to help us?

The kid's dad played for Rick Pitino at Kentucky. There's a fair chance the kid's dad might listen to his college coach if said college coach says my son will make sure to take care of your son.

My new ideal situation for 2014: Piper/Eubanks, one of the 7 footers, and this Jackson Davis Kid. Mason, Morris, Piper/Eubanks, Martin, Davis, 7-footer would be a hell of a class and give us some interesting options next year. That is a lot of true freshmen, but I also think they are all good players that will strengthen the program both next year and over the course of their 4 year career. I could definitely see a transfer mixed in there though.

It's crazy that we could have 5 or 6 true freshman on the team next year, but also very exciting as a Gopher fan... 5 or 6 new guys to evaluate over the course of a season + they'd all be guys that Pitino brought in to fit his system.

Really good offer list for his rankings - Butler, Fl State, Alabama, Georgia, GT, Oklahoma State, Vandy... some Ivy league offers too so he must have solid academics.
