I'm calling it today. Kevin ware will be a golden gopher next year. don't know if he will have to sit out a year or not. But he will be a gopher none the less.

We only have 4 guards on roster for next year, and we are not recruiting any 2014 incoming freshman. With 2 good young backup guards, and a bunch of 2015 targets, a veteran guard to fill oto's scholarship makes sense
 

Why are you guys assuming Ware isn't back with Louisville? I don't think Pitino is about to run off the player that was considered the extra motivation that led to their National Championship run.

The way they're recruiting implies they expect a transfer. Many Louisville fans have speculated Ware will be the guy to transfer and Minnesota could be a logical landing spot.
 

Seems like Ware would likely stay at Louisville through next season then possibly transfer for more playing time because he will have already graduated. That is what I got from browsing some forums.

I don't know about us getting Djuan Piper... He was wearing a Washington sweatshirt after their State Championship. (Couldn't get the picture in this post)
 

Honestly, I don't think we are going to get piper or eubanks. Not exactly sure how we stand with konate and the kid from kentucky, only guy I am some what confident in getting is gueye, which doesn't do much for me in terms of excitement. For what we were hearing about and what we were hoping for since way back in may, the class of 14 has been somewhat disappointing. We are definitely going to need to get transfers after the season to make up for the 2014 class. I would say it would help with evening out class size, but if we get a transfer it would likely be a graduate transfer so he can play right away. which would only mean one year, and next year is also going to be a big class, but pitino can't worry about that, just needs to bring in bodies for next year and worry about class sizes next year. Lets get some commitments and work on getting a even better class for 2015!

Also lets not forget there will likely be decommits from coaching changes(alvin ellis) that we can go after

Stay patient. If we do not have 2 high school commits by signing day, then you can panic.
I disagree with your assessment. All three signees have performed better than expected this season, and we are very much in the mix for Piper and Konate. Havent heard much about our chances with Eubanks or Davis, but it sounds like Davis is about as undecided as they come.
Lots of names will start surfacing in the next three weeks. Some might be legit, but most wont be. I would be very surprised if our third open scholarship goes to another high school player. I expect that to go to a transfer, or juco player that can be an immediate impact player. If we cannot land that type of player, I would expect that schollie to be banked.

Whats the timetable for spring recruits to sign? I think I recall dealing with Buckles all the way until school started last year?

Signing day is April 16. Final signing day is May 21. I believe transfers have until August 1st, but not sure on this one.
 

Has there been any information on whether Pitino would bank a scholly or two for the 2015 class instead of filling all of them for 2014? Personally, I wouldn't mind that one bit. It might give us more flexibility for 2015 in that we could extend more committable offers without having to worry if we will fill all of them before our bigger targets make their decisions.
 

I could see us banking 1 scholarship, but not any more than that. We have a pretty solid 10-man roster going into next year but we need some additional depth and players to develop so we aren't completely relying on freshman when Mathieu, Dre, Moe, and EE all graduate.

Assuming we use all three scholarships this year, and nobody transfers, we will have 4 scholarships available for 2015. 4 players or more is considered a big class. I highly doubt we are looking to intentionally bank a scholarship. If we bank one or more, it means we missed out on our targets. I believe we have 5 or six current offers out there.

Don't me get wrong, the players that are currently committed are good players, but they weren't what we were hoping for back in May. Right now we have carlos morris coming in to replace 3 wing players, that is why I think it is important to get another wing recruit in this class and why I'd love to have Piper or Eubanks, just sounds like they are not coming here, though I'm holding out hope we can land one of them. I get we have plenty of time, but thats not my issue, after eubanks and piper whats out there in the 2014 class? nothing really, we'd be scrapping the bottom of the bowl if we were to be looking for a true 2014 recruit. The transfer wire will be very important for this team, and I'd rather see the team go in that direction than take on a high school kid who is not worthy of a B1G scholarship and be stuck with him for 4 years. Also do believe we need to land another big in the class, Konate would be the most ideal candidate at this point, to have on the roster learning the system, because I don't like the idea of having a true freshman starting at the 5 when EE/Mo leave.

But you're right there is still a lot of time left, and we'll likely see some good transfers to be had, and a few highly regarded recruits decommit when some schools fire their coaches, and hopefully we can land some of those guys.

Morris isn't replacing three wings. He's replacing Austin and Malik. Mav never played, so that is like getting a free scholarship. Same goes for Wally. Torian Graham is another JUCO wing that Tommy says we should not write off. I am not going to get worried until it's April and we still don't have any commits or serious interest.

It's not like getting a free scholarship, its like getting scholarship back after after offering it to a player who should not have received it, This goes back to me saying I don't want to offer a scholarship just for bodies, we finally got that scholarship back, do we want to get another 4 years of Mav? I totally forgot about Wally, essentially we are replacing 4 wing players, though we don't need 4 wing players, we need at least another good one coming in, we would be asking for way too much out of Morris next season otherwise. Torian Graham would be a great get, but I have heard nothing about him and the gophers, so I'm not holding my breath.

Also I'd like to point out, that recruiting services inflate guys ratings if they are still available very late in the process to get fan bases interested in a guy (and their site). They gain from this because they would get multipy fan bases interested in news of his recruitment. Recruiting services don't gain much from updating the guys who have already committed since only one school's fan base would care (josh martin).

Torian Graham and Pitino have a relationship dating back to 2011 when Graham was at Arlington Country Day. There is a long standing relationship.

Obviously we don't want to sign bad players. We aren't "replacing" a lot of production despite the large number of scholatships we are working with. You made it seem like Morris was going to have to replace the production of 3 rotational players.

I haven't followed the situation closely, but is there a reason why pitino has not offered or even shown interest in him thus far especially with relationship he has with him? He seems like a good talent, good schools are after him, position that we need, so whats the hold up on our end?

Who says we havent offered? 247? ESPN? From what I know, and what has been reported, he is hell bent on going to Kentucky, which has not offered. I believe he is a fall back for Kentucky. If they dont offer, I am sure we will be in the mix. I highly doubt he will be signing on April 16. His recruiting has been derailed with his legal troubles. He is in court today facing a misdemeanor of possession

Do you have sources connected to the team? Have you heard that we are recruiting him?
