in this case, its his high school number, and yeah all credit to my awesome gf and her graphic design skills for that pic

You've got your girl friend churning these out? Haha good work.

what else is she good for? just kidding (NO ONE SHOW HERE THIS!!!) but yea, it only takes her like 10-15minutes and she is sitting around doing nothing so she didn't mind, she just got done making a new one of anas that I will save for a later date, she made this one earlier of anas for those of you didn't see the post on the last page. Not as good as the one she just made of anas, but still good.

Go Gophers!!

Don't they have 24 hour access to the "new" gym behind Pitino's office that the previous coaches couldn't find? I thought I read that.

Thinking DeAndre and Piper hit it off and that connection will get him here. To play with a PG of DeAndre's skill set is a big plus for any player. If Kobe would visit and see DeAndre play he might sees the light as well.

On 247 crystal ball recruiting we have a...
86% chance of getting Anas Osama Mahmoud
60% chance on Djuan Piper
And 83% chance on getting Abdoulaye Gueye.

So... To them 3 guys that have good chances of coming, but we only have on scholly

Crystal Ball hasn't been kind to the Gophers, or I suspect many presumed leaders for certain recruits. These guys all follow the "scoop" of one guy and change/make their pick based on that information. It's a herd mentality that makes schools look like bigger favorites than they are. All it would take for Mahmoud's crystal ball to change drastically would be for one of the Flordia/Southeast based 247 guys to crystal ball the kid to the Gators.

I don't think you need to worry about having one scholarship available. Ryan James has stated that the Gophers have had at least one transfer for something like 15 straight years. It's the way college basketball works and isn't unique to Minnesota. I'd be more surprised by just one new addition than I would be by three new guys coming in next year.

If we are the favorites for all three......I have to think that Gueye is the odd man out.

I will contribute money to anyone who makes that emoticon or one that strikingly resembles it.

I think Anas Osama Mahmoud and Abdoulaye Gueye know each other. Abdoulaye Gueye is a PF and with Josh wanting to play SF is our biggest short term need. I think Anas should and would red-shirt. Djuan Piper would help short term; I hope we land all three but we would have to free up 2 scholarships to make that happen.

Martin is gotten too tall for the SF position, ryan james has him at 6'10 now

That would be my thought also but if Pitino really plans on sticking with the zone, you could have three taller players on the floor at the same time as long as they move well and can step out and shoot the 3. Probably wouldn't work in a man, Martin would struggle trying to keep up with a quick 3

In two years, imagine playing the 2-3 with 7'2 Mahmoud in the middle and 6'10 Martin and 6'9 Buggs on the wings.

I don't believe Mahmoud would red-shirt. When I looked at the Louisville thread, some seemed to think he was a one and done. I have a tough time seeing that. I think he would come in and play for us right away. Maybe even start over Martin at the 4. Then again all we've seen of this kid is a minute long video. It's all a guessing game at this point.

Hard to imagine him body-ing with Big Ten forwards, but I'll entertain the possibility.

I've brought this up before, but there aren't any Trevor Mbakwe type PFs in the league right now and presumably next year. Wisconsin starts Dekker at the 4, we start King, Michigan has a couple of average sized PFs, etc.

Mahmoud looks skinny in the clip I have seen; doubt a center with his 7'2" skinny frame would be one and done...
Seems like he would red-shirt and learn from Elliot and Walker then start the next year. Still think it would be a great help to get Abdoulaye Gueye as another option at PF it would make practice better. Elliot and Walker are much better since they practice against each other all the time... Martin at PF would still need competition to get better...

No disrespect to Oto or Joey King but I think Mahmoud would be able to hold his own against B1G forwards a little better. We wouldn't need him to play the 5 for us next year with EE and Big Mo. I think it would be awesome to see him play the 4 while he puts weight on to slide into the center position his soph. year

Mahmoud is a PF that could probably play C with some more weight. Everyone reports his natural position as PF though.

This is exactly what I would envision if he commited here, lets just hope he commits and we can deal with the problem later

Lost here...

His body type 7'2" 210 pounds screams red-shirt Center...

Completely agree. He's easily a year from having a B1G ready body.

EDIT: I have not been to Florida to see him play.

I think the recruiting services list his position as center by default. Most of them have not seen him play. I've read he is more of a PF right now, but at 7'2 there is no question he could play center with some added weight. I don't think he'd be redshirted though. He has the agility, athleticism and skill to play the PF position right away. Basketball players are rarely redshirted, especially highly talented ones like Mahmoud.

Just posted this so you might have missed it so I re-post (like a echo of myself)
