All Things 2014 Basketball Recruiting Thread

Arizona got a commitment from Craig Victor, a 5-star PF. Probably doesn't hurt our chances with White.

James in one of his podcasts a while back said he thought White was a lock to Georgetown. Not sure if that has changed or not, kind of sounds like it.

Arizona and Georgetown were rumored to be the two favorites.

Illinois is a state i would love to start a pipeline in. a lot of similarities that would result in little adjustment for recruits from that area.. and btw saw paul white play hes a stud would love to have him

I agree with you. I lived in the burbs for 9 years and felt Clem did a great job of bringing in and developing second tier recruits. My problem is most recruits come from the city and we didn't exactly help ourselves with our handling of Ellis and Foster.

Cuse have been all over him for a while. RT @FinkelsteinNERR: BREAKING - Kaleb Joseph has committed to Syracuse while on his official visit.

Does this help in the Whitehead recruitment?

Unlikely as Joseph is a PG. The idea was that if Joseph committed to Cuse it would help with the package deal of Whitehead and Newton but that obviously isn't valid anymore.

Hey, Boeheim knows how to chase his dreams, too.

Without a visit I doubt it is Minnesota, Gonzaga probably.

He took an unofficial a long time ago but I agree I'd say we're a longshot and Gonzaga or UCLA is likely.

My money for Perkins is on UCLA. As for Paul White, if he hasn't made a decision by November, (which I think won't be the case) we really have to show him some love when Whitney Young comes to Apple Valley. In a dream world scenario, not trying to get ahead of myself, but... imagine the excitement if he became a Gopher before that game. Fans are going to flock to try to get admission to see the future of the Gophers at PF, as if fans wouldn't already be flocking to the game in itself now.

Wow I guess I missed out on where White goes to HS. I had no idea he plays on the same team as Okafur.

Has he already visited Arizona and Georgetown? Or are the reports that they are no longer interested a bit exaggerated if not misleading?

The reports I've seen about Arizona not being interested were all speculation. Just seems logical since they got a commitment from Victor.

He already took an unofficial to Georgetown earlier this summer and still plans to take officials to all five schools I believe. Arizona will get the first official visit on September 6th. White will visit Minnesota on October 5th and DePaul on October 26th. The Hoyas will host White on his second official visit although that date hasn't been solidified at this point.

The Minnesota Gophers needs one top recruit to commit and then other top recruits will follow. Who is the top recruit who wants to be the man?

Just curious, not being negative at all, but what makes people think that if one 4/5 star commits here, then suddenly a bunch of others will? You have to remember, while the U of M might fit one top recruit's preference for a school, the Gophers don't have some state of art, legendary basketball program that other recruits will flock to like some universities have.
Bottom line: One 4/5 star recruit does not necessarily mean more to come. But, I'm very optimistic that 1-2 choose to wear the Maroon and Gold hopefully!

Insider anyone?

It restates the obvious. No new info. Just the basic: "uphill battle with Tyus, still a possiblity with Vaughn, recruiting Robinson, Travis, Snider, White" , the basic names, etc... And with Paul White it basically just states White's 5 officials and the dates.
