All Things 2014 Basketball Recruiting Thread

whatever dude, you get my point.

Edit : FWIW - 4star on ESPN with a 93 ranking. #15 PG in the country. still not someone that screams early exit, but according to ESPN he wasn't a 3star.

Exactly what I was going to say....
Espn = Top 100 4 Star
Scout = 4 Star
Rivals = Top 150 3 Star
I get his point about rankings don't always matter, but it's not like Trey Burke was an unknown.

Hopefully him cutting them from his list actually means they are cut from his list. We've already seen that isn't always the case (Whitehead, Baldwin).

Kansas has two 4* PG's on their roster that will still be on the roster in 2014, Tharpe and Frankamp, even though they have offered a ton of PG's for 2014 it will be a tough sell to land any of them, of course things change and by the spring they could need one.

Huh, I had no idea he is turning 19 in October.

"Nairn has work to do on his perimeter shot, however, and he’s still learning the nuances of playing the point guard position, but that’s understandable. Six years ago, Nairn —who turns 19 in October —wasn’t a basketball player, he was a sprinter in the Bahamas, a nation where track and field is much more relevant that hoops."

Nice, that gives us over a month for a high level PG to commit to Indiana. That should make his decision alot easier.
Hopefully

Eric Gardner, a Purdue Insider, just made the first 24/7 crystal ball pick on Tum Tum.

His pick - Minnesota

That's a good point, though if they don't get a commit before his visit I think he goes to Indiana since that is his last visit. Should be interesting to follow.

Ahhhh, the good old crystal ball. I know a lot of people hate it but I can't help but get a little excited when I see a Minnesota pick.

Yep, gotta think they'll offer him on his visit if they don't have anyone committed by then. What other PG's are they interested in besides Snider?

Dante Exum-Kid from Austrailia
Jordan McLaughlin
Quentin Snider

Those three are all rated higher than Lou. Exum is 6'5 but I think he is primarily a PG. Don't know much about the McLaughlin recruitment. Quentin Snider is the most likely of those three to commit to Indiana in the next month or so.

They are also looking at a lot of top 2015 PG recruits.

Offered:
Isaiah Briscoe-15
Bryant Crawford-26

Interested:
Marcus Lovett-28
Franklin Howard-40

All top 50 Rivals

My guess is he commits to either Oklahoma during his visit or to Gophs the following week. Seems like if we get him to campus it's us or Indy. That said. He could cancel all visits tomorrow and commit to Kansas. Who the F knows.

Gardner must have some connection to Minnesota. He's made several predictions on Gopher targets.

It's going to be tough to figure out where Nairn will end up before his first two visits. He's spoken highly quite a bit of both Oklahoma and Minnesota.

Any reason why he's kind of slipping through the cracks then?

I don't think it's a case of slipping through the cracks. I think what you've got with Bearden is progression over time.

I like his potential at the next level more so than some of the other Gopher PG & CG targets who may be currently "ranked higher" by some. Certainly more versatile than a lot of them.

He switched schools late in his sophomore year and played for Germantown last season. Very good year, although he certainly wasn't the primary star (Luke Fischer - now an Indiana freshman was).

Here are some additional thoughts on Lamonte Bearden.

And this one is a very short list! I hope we get this guy so bad! He's so quick and so strong! Plus he's a 4 year player!

couldn't agree more from the limited videos i've seen from this kid he seems like a perfet fit

Go Gophers!!

No offense to the people who do the crystalball at 247 sports but every time I go to a gopher target all of our "insiders" or writers have the gophers for almost every target

Go Gophers!!

Yeah, so the coaches pretty much listed all of the top-25 at some point except Okafor, Stanley Johnson, Isaiah Whitehead, and Rashad Vaughn.

Paul White (forward from Chicago) apparently has an official visit to Minnesota scheduled for early October:

"Thus far White has some in-home visits and on-campus visits set for the coming months with more to follow. Arizona will be in for an in-home visit Sept. 18. He will head to Minnesota for an official visit the first weekend in October, has a visit set at DePaul the last weekend in October and is in the process of setting up a possible visit with Connecticut."

If he's taking an official visit here and onl has 1-2 others scheduled, it's gotta mean he's serious about the possibility of becoming a Gopher. Awesome news. Hope we have great fall weather, and that the football games are energy filled!

Has alot of offers, did some of the programs recruiting him back off because of his injury, would be a solid get if Pitino could sign this kid, not as much of a long shot if we are one of his five official visits as it would seem.

Illinois is a state i would love to start a pipeline in. a lot of similarities that would result in little adjustment for recruits from that area.. and btw saw paul white play hes a stud would love to have him

Arizona got a commitment from Craig Victor, a 5-star PF. Probably doesn't hurt our chances with White.
