Alexandria WR Kristen Hoskins commits

Fleck has a plan. I like the comparison to Rondale Moore:).

I am from Alex. Been watching him play from 9th grade on. My daughter is in his class. He is so darn quick. I have literally watched many players grasp at air trying to tackle him. Extremely shifty. If he gets a seam he is gone. Phenomenal balance, good, but not great, hands. Vision is unbelievable. His cutbacks are otherworldly. I am convinced, at this level, he is making moves on the first guy to set up the second guy. The first guy never gets him. He is a good kid too.

Competition (I hate to admit) is not exactly on par with playing Eden Prairie every week. But Moorhead, Brainerd, and the St Cloud area schools provide some talent. There has not been 1 kid in 3 years match up with him even remotely close athletically. Watching him against overmatched kids is often comical, but when he faces true talent he ties them in knots too. Will be interesting to see how he does against top talent at every level, but that is a concern and a question for many kids so I don't hold it against him.

A good example of his athleticism. In basketball we were getting eaten up by a press late in a game. How do you beat a press? Passing, right? I turned to my wife and said, they should just let him dribble, nobody is going to corner him. The next possession he made all 5 defenders look silly and soon they wanted nothing to do with pressing us.

You want a little teaser? He is probably the best talent to come out of Alex ever. And he might not be the best in our system. You will have to dig to find the second kid, but his name is out there.

The local sports reporter just interviewed him and wrote an article. His latest 40 time was 4.40. An earlier article mentions that he has been sub 4.40 in the past.

I know a coach that coaches against him. Said he absolutely belongs at this level and is very very fast.

Great sign! So the story goes...Kristen was born in Chicago but it was getting too rough so his family moved to Minneapolis. Then Minneapolis was getting too rough and his family moved to Alexandria. He’s been starting on the Varsity football team since 9th grade and is also a good basketball player on a team that’s 10-0 so far. He’s from a smaller town but I wouldn’t call him a small town kid.

The one concerns to smaller guys like this is are they more prone to getting hurt with their smaller size? Also, one of the earlier posts mentioned good, but not great hands. Just makes me worry about another Troy Williamson who was all speed no hands.

Otherwise, good in state get that should make a lot of people happy. Hope he turns out well.

Oh no! Do NOT compare him to Troy Williamson!! Not fair. I didn’t say bad hands, I said good hands. I watched Tyler Johnson drop a few balls yet look how good he was. He is so exceptional at other skills (speed, quickness, moves). His hands are good. Solid. Not exceptional (yet). I bet when he joins the Gophs he will be in the middle of the pack for hands. But he will be the quickest. Just wanted to clarify.

Hmmm ... this bit sounds off.

If that were a thing, I suspect more folks would've done it.

That said, if you want to live in a small outstate town that is 96+% white, then by all means.

You worry about a lot of things, don't you?
Just enjoy the ride.

Looks like a great Gopher addition! Trust Pj, his staff, the process as we are now light years ahead of the Kill - Brewster era. We now have better quality players on & off the field. People the Bar has been raised!

What does the percentage of races in any community have to do with the quality of life? And yes, many parents would find Alexandria to be a better place to raise their families than Minneapolis. It is kind of a thing.

I didn't say anything about quality of life.

And yes, many parents would find Alexandria to be a better place to raise their families than Minneapolis. It is kind of a thing.

But I suppose in the summer, that bottom number swells up to maybe 20k or so. Plus 10k fishing boats and jetskis.

I knew this was coming.
Did ya?

But you didn't know it was coming that a poster was going to claim that the family fled the hard knock streets of Mpls for the tranquility of Alexandria, Minnesota. Hey, it's better than Fargo, so there's that.

May 2020 told showed the world what Minneapolis is all about (the new Detroit Michigan). Extremely poor leadership, values - if was soup would be only broth no substance. Have you seen heard their mayor & city council? Good people leave and for good reasons as values matter.
Did you wake up with a hangover or something? do you like this kid or not, and what's with the Detroit reference (they're actually doing a good job of rebuilding the city center - as for ruin porn which I assume you were alluding to, you see it everywhere)? Soup? Values?

You can never go wrong or be more patriotic then hanging out with Big Ole in The Birthplace of America-

Thanks for the local angle. Alexandria is a great city (too big to be a town). One of those Minnesota cities with a summer population that doubles its school year total.

Yes the more Liberal Fargo becomes the worse the city becomes which is happening throughout America. Remember America first raises all boats.
