I don't get it. Do they do what Wisconsin does and reclassify before the playoffs?

But, you can stream the semi's on NSPN tv. You will have to pay for it.

Again, I don't understand how football viewership would be less than girls basketball or hockey... If they are making money there, or taking the loss than I don't see how football couldn't be broadcast.
45 has on at 7pm Friday an episode of FRIENDS, a show that went off the air 20 years ago... Saturday is a marathon of Shoppers Showcase. I don't think 45 has a large profile of appointment TV going on they would be dropping for a couple hours of football

I will also be coaching in the semi finals and will be attending several games. I know we can pay to watch through NSPN... I wasn't questioning why people cant watch but why fall sports are not broadcast like winter sports. I have also wondered for a long time why championship games for baseball and softball are not broadcast either

I do know WV has a power point system where a loss to a school 1 class above is worth more or the same as win in the same class as you are. I think its similar to our QRF but the QRF doesn't give enough for playing in higher classification games to the lower school.

Very surprised the football tournament isn't broadcast like basketball and hockey tournaments are. Football rules the country as far as TV ratings go and it’s not close. Granted the Quarterfinals are all over the pace, but the semis are all at the bank making logistics easy to broadcast on 45

They do full production with semi finals and have replay. It’s just not on TV.

So I've been to the HS boys hockey tourney at the Xcel center even though my kids haven't been playing. I think that's true of many people that go to the boys hockey tournament at the X. For football at US Bank, is it mostly fans/parents of the two teams playing? Or do they get a lot of random fans from other schools too? I've never been to the football playoffs.

Poly-Met has been running the same spots for years about their proposed mining project. and then a lot of promos for Education MN (the teachers' union), and ads for sports rehab services at Tria.

What you are alluding to is why I think the MSHSL is buying the broadcast time from Hubbard (maybe at some sort of a discount) and then the ads are all (or majority) from sponsors/corporate partners.

I would not say a lot, but definitely some. Roughly a third split each way between the 2 participating fanbases and then neutral observers.

State Auditor used to perform the annual audit (maybe still does) and two-class hockey was either created by the Legislature or through legislative pressure. Other MSHSL issues crop up every now and then.

If 45 had their choice, they’d only televise hockey. 19 million views from last year’s tournament. Most from 45tv’s stream. 144,000 attended in person.

Minnetonka likely the favorite next year with what they return on the oline and at QB. Plus another year of Lombari at DC if he stays at Minnetonka. QB rushed for 285 and 5 TD's last night and their two TE sets are dominating. RB added 100 yards as well. It will be interesting to see what level the OL players project to.

In a state with REDICULOUSLY high taxes, Id rather just deal with the situation we have of not broadcasting the quarter and simi final rounds over the air than have more taxes added to the states tax payers. Government over reach is an issue and this is just another situation that would fall into that bucket.

No, I like people having freedom to do as they see fit with their own business... Do i think the MSHSL does things perfect, absolutely not. But I am adamantly against them having the government step in and force them to do something while having to then fund it as well.
