2024-25 Gopher Hockey Season

Now that they have a future NHL goalie, BU is officially a problem. Can you imagine a 1/8/9/16 of BC/DU/BU/Cupcake. Good lord.
That regional would be awesome.

Regarding BU, certainly raises their floor, but their defense still leaves a lot to be desired at times. But absolutely add them to the group that’s a definite FF contender where before you’d expect gone in their 2/3 matchup

Since the 2000s or so, most career points by three-year players:
Snuggerud - 62-63-125 in 109GP
Haula - 42-82-124 in 114GP
Taffe - 56-57-113 in 120GP
Pitlick - 47-61-108 in 112GP

Snuggerud should get his likeness on the All-American mural this summer since the West doesn't have that many top forwards.

Howard
Snuggerud
Devine

Pitlick?

Fink and Finley both would be ahead. Kirwan probably as well. Maybe Hughes for Michigan in terms of production or Hage. But yeah Pitter will be right there for CCHA POTY

Didn't realize PSU was West. Stupid. Fink could be a problem for Snuggerud making the three then.

Yeah I think they do it by conferences if I’m recalling correctly. Snuggy will end up ahead of Fink imo as even though they don’t say it, they value team success and our best player is going to be on the first team.
lotta hockey left though so much could change

Souliere in net tonight. He’s won the job and it’s pretty clear we’re riding with him from here on out. Coming off a bye week I’m hoping for a lot of jump in the first period tonight. MSU is off, 5 points this weekend ties us for first. Let’s go!

Horseshoe embedded so far up the wolverines ass tonight they’re choking on it. Play a 3rd like the 2nd and they’ll be fine

We were the better team tonight but didn’t bury our chances.

Then they weren't good enough. This team is annoying and hasn't strung four in a row since Mid November. Two wins in the last six.

This team has fucking first round one seed upset written all over them. Two wins in seven games in crunch time of the season.

Motzko might play his blame the assistant card this summer and ditch Gordon, which would be fine.

As expected. Gophers should just not play overtime or shootouts and give the other team the points. From controlling your destiny in winning the big ten to this.

2nd place is better than first. I don’t care about a regular season championship banner. A week off in March is the last thing you want.

Now there is some logic we could have won the conference but we wanted to play an extra game. I do agree the big ten not having enough teams for a proper tournament is bad, but do you really not want to win a season championship?

I mean obviously sucks to not leave the weekend with a win but I guess I don’t see two OT games on the road against a pretty good team as being such a terrible weekend. 3 on 3 and shootouts are garbage anyway so whatever.

Talk about lowered standards. Sweep at home split on the road has been the definition of good even against good teams for decades. Now we like an OT loss and a tie? Come on

Didn’t say I like it, I just don’t see it as the end of the world like you. I’m frustrated because it feels like we should have had both, and it would have been awesome to sweep both Michigan and Wisconsin on the season, but life moves on and we’re still a contender.

This is a garbage take about 3 on 3 and shootouts. This to me is when your skills shine, or in their case, when they don't shine. I'm shocked there isn't more made of the fact they can't score or win in shootouts. It's like Free throws in Basketball, do they not practice these things? If not, why?

I hope they don’t, because it’s terrible hockey, and it’s not how postseason games are decided. I really don’t care if we lose every shootout for the next 20 years, which it kind of looks like we might lol. More isn’t made of our shootout woes because they don’t impact the pairwise.

It's like people don't realize missing on every shootout attempt and missing on 99% of breakways are related. It's a skill issue. They don't have anyone that can score 1 on 1, and they have goalies that are just not great.

Well we lead the country in goals and are second in goals per game so yeah I’m not concerned about a lack of offensive skill. I’ll live with the shootout losses.
Helps when you have a donkey shit NC schedule

But ya there is skill. Just no 1 on 1 scoring skill which hurts in tight games if you can't cash in chances.

Yes, another terrible take as going one on one against a goalie definitely never happens in a game. Certainly could NEVER help you win a game that just might get you past another team to improve your pairwise ranking to give you a better seed. Those skills that you just might improve upon in those situations if you did work on them in practice are so not necessary because those skills are NEVER used at any other time during a game. Yes, what a complete waste of time to work on your high end skills as they're just never needed... improving your skillsets could NEVER improve your pairwise ranking...

We were 1 pt off a split on the road. I am concerned and unhappy about recent play as well, but your emotional lows are unbelievable.

Gophers down to about 62% chance of a 1 seed by not taking care of business when others are.

So... what would you suggest? An hour and a half of each practice devoted to one-ones with the goalie? But that wasn't his point anyway. He just said 3x3 hockey and Shootouts are a dumb way to settle handle things. I agree 100%.

Yeah not much of a fan of the 3x3 OT. Sounds like fun until you've watched several times. Go 4x4.
