What happened to rutgers? I have a bad feeling they'll figure some things out before we play them twice
 


Gabe on Harper will be a huge test for Gabe. Could be an issue if he posts up a lot. He is better than the guy from Michigan
 


Indiana up on Iowa by 11 with two minutes to play.
 

Hoosiers now up by 11 over Iowa with 2 minutes to go in the second. I was now gone 10 minutes without a field goal and a shooting 22% in the second half. It's not just that they're missing easy looks Indiana is forcing some tough shots.
 

Indiana went on a 23-3 run against Iowa. Couple minutes away from beating them IN Iowa City.
 

I can’t wait to go on hawkeyenation for some laughs later.
 



Not only is Indiana going to win they're going to do it shooting less than 50% from the free throw line. They should be winning by 20

If Rutgers plan is to post up Gabe they’ll get destroyed. He is a capable post defender, that isn’t where Harper excels and one of the best shot blockers in the country looms big.

I'm just saying (probably absurdly), that Alabama has never been anything but a football school (for sports that matter). So they shouldn't get to use their football money to bootstrap other sports that they've never been good at.

Brad Brownell has actually been at Clemson for a decade; his first season was 2010-11. Dabo's only been head coach there since the middle of the 2008 season, and Brownell would have been hired when Clemson football was more of a 7-10 win program, before they were competing for national championships on a yearly basis. They went to the 2011 NCAA tournament in Brownell's first year, and didn't get back to the tournament again until 2018, when they made the Sweet Sixteen. Also lost to Minnesota in the 2014 NIT Final Four in Pitino's first year.

But yeah Brownell isn't someone who was recently hired on a huge contract on the back of big time football success. He was sort of in that no-man's land that you could say Pitino and Patrick Chambers were in, where they weren't having great success, but apparently weren't quite bad enough to get fired, even if some of the fan base was ready for a change, and now are having some of their best seasons several years after they were hired.

Thanks for the info and correcting me on Clemson.

Still seems "odd" to me that a school with zero basketball prestige can suddenly become good around the same time that its football team rises to the top of elite. Seems impossible that football success and thus booster/donor/[who knows what] money can't be leaking over into the bball program, and likely other programs as well.

You could be correct about financial corruption at Clemson, but there is also a success breeds success pattern that can attract players to programs. There is a reason basketball recruits are taken to football games on visits. It demonstrates vitality, life and support of sports in general. Good football can help basketball without corruption.

I mean maybe...it obviously can't hurt in recruiting when the football team is good, but look at some of the bluest of the blue blood basketball teams.

Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Gonzaga, Villanova, Syracuse (until more recently), Georgetown (80s and 90s). Not many look at these schools and think about how great their football programs are. I mean a one off year here or there they can be good but generally pretty bad or non existent overall.

Clemson football has been good for several seaons now, their basketball team sucked last year as even the Gophers handled them easily. Even Northwestern pops up now and then and has a good year. Also, don't athletic departments allocate funds as a whole? I'm sure booster money for football probably doesn't get spread around, but revenue certainly does. How do you think rowing gets funded? lol
 

Michigan with another dominating win over Purdue. Their only games this year that they haven’t won by double digits are a 4 point win against penn state and our win, which looks better and better. They’re starting to separate as the best team in the big ten for me.

They have that look. Was really hoping Purdue to win as it would have brought us to within 2 games in the loss column.
 

Good to see Iowa lose. They will not win the Big Ten.

When you can't play defense at all, your shots have to fall every night. Very good team, not great or final four worthy. Fight me on it...:p

I've been a broken record on this for two months. Hawkeyes don't play enough defense to win a championship.

If they did it would be a very rare occurrence as champions have all had stellar defensive rankings. In fact UCONN is the only one that was not top 20 in offense and defense to win it this century . And they did it twice. Even then they were top 30 defensively.
 

I absolutely LOVE that the wheels appear to be coming of for Bill Self!
 




Just turned on the TV and the first thing I saw was McKinley Wright limping off the court. He was able to walk off but he looked like he was in some serious pain.
 

Wowza. The ending of that WVU/Texas Tech game. Those are a couple of really good teams.
 

If Duke loses today, they will have a losing record for the first time since November 22nd, 1999. That is 7,736 days.
