All Things 2024 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Everyone knew when the Wolves moved up and ended up taking Culver, that's not who they wanted. Everyone knows if/when the Vikings move up in this draft, it will be to take the QB they want for the future. We just don't know which QB at which spot that will be. Stop being so obtuse.
and the cavs knew what they were doing.

Everyone knows that when Gerson drafted Culver he had high praise for him publicly. Check it out. Everyone knows that whoever the Vikings draft they will publicly say the player was the guy they wanted all along, whether it was the case or not.

Everyone knows that you like to speak in generalities.

Of course he said that about Culver. You also know he wanted Garland, which is why you brought it up. It was GM malpractice.

I'm all for trading up for Maye or Daniels and I don't dislike JJ. However, it feels like giving up two first round picks for JJ is the worst case scenario and it also feels like it's the most likely.

This is what it's like being a fan of this team.

So now it's malpractice. You will never know who the vikings really wanted.

I will know that if they trade to 5, and don't get a top 4 QB, it was incompetence, malpractice, stupidity, whatever you want to call it.

Everyone will know that, just like everyone knew it when Rosas blew it. You even know that but keep trying to argue about nothing.

LOL!

0.0000000% chance that that's all they'll have to give to move into even the #4 spot.

Zero chance. They'll require additional picks.

NE and Arizona know how pathetically desperate KAM is. Career is on the line.

He's not a 2nd round talent. You should do a little more research on McCarthy.
I've watched all but three (3) of his games this year. All of the big boards that I've read have him ranked anywhere from 23 - 48 as a prospect. By most accounts, our price to move up to 4/5 is expected to be:

Pick 11 (2024)
Pick 42 (2024) (HOU)
1st Round Pick (2025)
2nd Round Pick (2025) (HOU)

I'll trade that for Williams. I'll trade that for Daniels. Not a chance is JJ or Maye worth that to me from what I've watched of the top 4 guys.

There is no way that JJ is worth two (2) FRP's more in value/risk than Penix or Nix, not to mention the other high draft pick potential, IMO.

Really its giving up one first rounder and then a pick swap. The net loss is one first round pick (plus whatever else is goven up to get there). It might be a bigger net loss of first rounders. San Fran gave up 3 firsts for Trey Lance. Will the market still be that high? If so, I hope the Vikes pass like they passed on KC and DH. If the best offer the Cards get is our 11 and 23 and maybe a midrounder next year they might take it. I don't know what they need but they can plug some holes.

New England, if it's true they aren't sold on a QB at 3, might part with their pick. That team is garbage all over. Two picks this year and change, if it's their best offer, could happen. I assume the chatter, though, was simply to see what they could get and they'll pick a QB.

Fairy tale that McCarthy lasts until 11
I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Neither Maye nor JJM would do better with the Vikings than Cousins did.

And so, I doubt that is going to be satisfying.

I think the reality that people need to come to realize is quite plain:

There are really, really, really few great NFL QB’s. Ever. You have to get lucky as hell to land on one.

And there are other ways to get to and win the Super Bowl.

Playing as well (or nearly) as Cousins, but on a Rookie Salary for 5 seasons to allow that money to be spent on and attract other good players, I would find very satisfying.

This is just you evangelizing your fake religion.

Since the start of the current rookie pay scales, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if more teams got to the Super Bowl on the backs of QBs not on a rookie contract.

It’s a reasonable idea on paper, but in practice it just doesn’t matter anywhere near as much as you badly want to pretend that it does.

But Purdy SF!!!

We beat them. With a non-rookie QB.

Lions had the game in the bag. Non-rookie QB.

KC beat them. Non-rookie QB.
