Week 1 Other Games Thread

Few things since it’s late…
1. If you have a lot of hard surface floors buy a Bissell Crosswave (infomercial near FS1 and CBSsports channels on directv)
2. Need some AggieVision
3. Do you call him Daw-Bo or Dab-O?

I really hope the Aggievision comes to Minnesota next season for the opener I would watch it over the big corporate broadcast teams

Unless you've already used up your free trial of Fubo for exactly this same reason (to get the PAC12 network to actually watch your team play a PAC team).

Looks like PAC12 Network is available on Sling with Orange + Sports Xtra, and I think you can get that combo for $10 for the first month (no free trial). For sure you can get Orange for that, not sure if it's still $10 if you add the sports pack.

Same thing for a new service I've not heard of called "Vidgo". $10 for first month, seems to just have one big bundle, that includes PACN.

Both are available on Roku.

Speaking of SEC ... Vandy loses at home to FCS team East Tennessee State .... 23-3. :ROFLMAO:

Lots of FCS teams played very tough. The talent gap has obviously been closing the past decade, but I'm wondering if the hot start this year has something to do with FCS playing spring football just a few months ago and being sharper. UNI also gave ISU a heckuva game. Montana beat Washington. SDSU beat CSU. USD almost beat Kansas.

I am fairly rural. Just paid quite a bit to Comcast to get internet and tv. Still like 6-10 weeks from install.
So that sucks because football ends early otherwise
You can get pac 12 network on Comcast, just requires an upgrade.

Good points!

Yeah Washington fans must be pretty depressed right now.

I'm sure Montana is good ... but they haven't even been on the level of the Dakota schools in a while.

Once I have service I’ll do that. But it will be after the Colorado game
I haven't looked into how much the upgrade costs...or if you can just do it for one day. Not sure how that works.

How much did you pay? I have a friend who lives in remote wilderness who is trying out StarLink (satellite Internet), and they are getting like 100 MB/s download speeds. I think it's $99/month.

Don’t care if already posted. FCS school Presbyterian College scored 84 points against NAIA St. Andrews with the QB (Michigan transfer) throwing 10 TDs. The coach for PC is that HS coach from Arkansas that never punts and always onside kicks. It will be interesting to see how that translates to college football.

Local angle: PC plays at St. Thomas on November 20th. If the timing doesn’t conflict with the Gopher/Indiana game, I may have to go check it out.

OK … other than never punting and always on-siding … what has he figured out about football that no one else has figured out?

Doubt there’s something truly special there.

Montana even lost their All American WR to Frost

They've had some down years but they are better than USD, about on par with SDSU over the longer term and no one is on the level of NDSU.

The math checks out and he’s willing to stick his neck out to try it. I think it’s awesome he’s getting a (slightly) bigger stage than high school to prove the concept. Coaches punt far too often.

Never punting is mathematically the best strategy for some teams at some ti
You can call 3rd and 5 knowing you’re always going for 4th down.

4th and 28 not punting is flat stupid.

I’m sure he mixes it “never punt” means rarely punt

Most satellite internet comes with fast speeds and hard data caps. Doesn’t work great for what I do

No cap on StarLink :).

It is a beta product though. It's Elon Musk's new experiment.
No data cap…yet.
I paid Comcast $3500 +$65/month for 500MB and TV will be monthly.

Ive run LTE wifi for a year but it’s $150/month. Directv is over $100. Been a weird year

I’d rather play them later if our defense needs time to come around. I don’t think their offense will become anything special.
The caveat to that is Iowa apparently started three new DLinemen yesterday.

Those guys will only get better and they looked tougher than shit Saturday.

Our best hope is injuries to Iowa

Unlike say blackjack the inputs and probabilities probably vary quite a bit and are educated guesses but this article attempts to explain the mathematical reasoning for rarely or never punting.

I paid Comcast $3500
Was that to run fiber to your place? Unquestionably worth it. Though hope you putting in the money means you “own” the rights to it somehow … ie they can’t hold that line hostage. But that might be wishful thinking.

For sure. But if he says mathematically you should never punt, he is wrong.

mathematically on 4th and 25 from your own 1 yard line…you have a greater win probability by punting. Hell you have a better win probability by taking a safety than going for it in that scenario
