Crystal ball for Otto Hess to Boston College at the moment. It's interesting how some of these commits fall like dominoes after a certain commitment happens. I'm sure there's a pecking order through the process for both college coaches and HS players in how things play out.

Booker would be a nice get also. Crystal ball for us there. Another kid with a very solid offer list.

After today, what else do we have for needs with this class? The boat is filling up. Great to see.

Assuming the predictions are correct for Booker and Hood, I'm in no hurry for other commitments. I'm willing to wait until Retzlaff makes a decision. Beyond that, I'm more interested in a high ceiling than a position. Townley would be an example. I'd be fine with having Townley getting #20, and then seeing what the staff can do in person.
 

Does anyone know what the latest is with Seth Greens brothers (Bryson & Blaine)?

247 has them both listed as Warm for us, and they only have us, Baylor and OK State as Warm. I feel like I haven't heard anything about either of them in quite awhile though?

I’d be very happy with Townley and Booker. Ratzlaff would be great, but I’m not liking the odds of him playing football. Unless there is some other must take player, I’d like to see us take a smaller class this year, I don’t see a glaring need.

I think they may have missed the boat. Already have three WRs on board, but yeah haven’t heard much from them.

You'd trade for a program that has made 4 of the last 5 national championship games? Really??! You sure about that??

My comments about Clemson have entirely to do with the school. The schools is very much in line with what North Dakota State is, as a school. And yet, they have a national top 4 football program.

Does not seem fair or right, to me. But I don't really care if you don't get that or agree with that, it's how I will continue to feel regardless.

If we pull in Booker, he’ll be one of my favorites in the class. Really explosive for a kid his size...bit like Jah Joyner that way.

Just my opinion of course, but I don't see any way in hell that Eastern won't be an interior DL.

Probably should be playing interior in high school, to be honest. But when you're so much bigger and still faster, than most of the kids you play, you can get away with playing out of position.

I was wondering that too. But as someone else said....we already have three receivers in the class. Too bad. Both are highly regarded.

But whoever Fleck is bringing in is probably at least as good. His track record with receivers has been excellent.

I'd venture out and guess that there is no strong ties or set of commitment to the Gophers like their older brother Seth who went to HS here.
 



Seth played his senior year in Allen, as well, didn't he?

If the younger brothers have been in Allen their entire high school careers, I would not think they feel anything in particular for Minnesota.

Im guessing they have stronger ties to Minnesota than anywhere else due to Seth. But obviously they aren’t that strongly attached to Minnesota or anywhere else. They’ve been all over the place, from camp at UNC to unofficial visits to Washington.

Since they're 2021, Seth won't even still be at Minnesota when they get here? But anyway, your points still stand.
 

It wouldn't be surprising if PJF have turned down a few 4-Star players who do not fit the mold of what it is to be a Gopher football player

I believe this is as well. Bad apples can do disruptive damage to the program along with an overall image of the University.

Clemson average act score is around 29. NDSU around 23. They attract a different student population, that's for sure.

Link? Surprised by that, but so be it. Maybe Clemson goes after more upper middle class Atlanta and Charlotte suburban kids, whose families have money to throw at test tutor centers.

These entrance tests are going to be toast pretty soon, anyway.


But that wasn't really what I was getting at, regarding Clemson.

If you access their main recruiting page, It shows the Gophers ranked as #9 (3rd in B1G behind OSU and Mich), with 5 four-star recruits.

But if you access it in another way, you get here:

In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.

Which says the Gophers are #5 in rankings in the nation, with 7 four-star recruits.

Yet when you click on the Minnesota team page, it reverts to the ratings system with 5 four-star recruits again.

What gives with the inconsistency? Is it just that one system is 247-only, and the other some aggregate (for which the explanation I cannot find)?

The difference is composite rankings vs 247 rankings only. You can see in the two URLs, as well as just above the ranking table.

Don't ask me how they calculate "points".


I think most people here generally prefer the composite ranking.

One is the composite rankings, the other is 247's own team rankings.

Sam Renner created havoc as an interior DL at 6’4” 270 because of his quickness and mobility. It took him a while, however, to build to that size. Eastern is already at Renner’s size and could probably add some some more good weight. He is very quick and mobile. If we pull more DE talent, Eastern might be a natural fit for the Sam Renner slot.
 


The one thing I would say: on GH it seems people have no problem switching back and forth between the two, when it makes a Gophers recruit sound better. :sneaky:

If he's a composite 4*, but 247 only has him as a 3*: he's a 4* recruit.

If he's a composite 3*, but 247 has him as a 4*: he's a 4* recruit.

This is true, but I'd guess it to be the case for likely every fan base. It's natural to want to highlight a prospect/player's top accolades.
