His teammates didn't think he was a superstar. I for one wondered how he had that nickname. Perhaps he has a high opinion of himself and gave it to himself for radio purposes.Superstar?

People care because high recruiting rankings are used as a recruiting tool, public relations for ticket sales, drumming up interest in the media, etc.
The player doesn't change, but there's literally no downside to hoping a player has a ratings increase.
Top 25 is a far cry from being consistently top 4.
Granted, they get to play a lavender soft ACC conference schedule.
False, they weren’t on cusp. There is no such thing as a team from outside the cabal actually climbing over the impossible barriers to entry. Dabo “figured it out”, that if he ever wanted to beat them at their own game, he’d have to play like they do.Not really, they've been on the cusp. They are located in a nice area for recruiting, just needed to take the next step. Downfall of FSU and to a lesser degree UNC and South Carolina have certainly helped.
Lot of gopher follows on his Twitter. Trieu hasn’t changed his Gopher crystal ball either. Have a feeling it will be good newsAnybody got a read on James? Don't think he's made it on campus despite multiple attempts.

This is a big one for us. We could use him as another big-timer at a spot that's missing from this group. I love following this recruiting. I've never been so involved until quarantine. Though I probably would have followed either way with how big-time this class is.
I truly feel like the rest of this class is just icing if we sign James tomorrow.
Incredible recruiting region, great coach, great staff, tremendous support. A game there is a top 5-6 experience. He built it up and now has better players.Don't disagree at all that Dabo is pulling in top classes now. Just trying to put "suddenly, out of nothing" into some context.
Guess my point is it takes some time to climb to top of mountain.
They have played way more conference games against ranked teams over the last 5 years than we have.Top 25 is a far cry from being consistently top 4.

Huh? Two bit ag school? The do some very good research at Clemson. I think that they still do a lot of work for Michelin on tire materials, and that's just one example. A crappy state? I lived in that state for 10 years, it has plenty of positives. Crappy location? I thought that the area around Clemson was fairly scenic. Its not that different geographically than Athens, GA (OK its further to a major city), or Tuscaloosa, AL. Also, their football tradition is impressive. How do you explain Clemson, then?
Two-bit, nothing ag school, in a crappy state, crappy location. Dabo shows up, suddenly, out of nothing, starts pulling in high star recruits. Poof. National contender.
According to his Wiki page, teammates gave him the nickname. Fan of Superstar Billy Graham. His teammates didn't think he was a superstar. I for one wondered how he had that nickname. Perhaps he has a high opinion of himself and gave it to himself for radio purposes.
All fine and good. They are very much a two-bit school, and not at all a major research school. They don't even do much research for the USDA, lagging far behind most other state flagship ag schools. Granted, they have to split that with SC State (historically black school).Huh? Two bit ag school? The do some very good research at Clemson. Are they are two-bit school because they are not a major research school --- ergo is Oregon a two-bit school in your eyes as well? All fine and good. Very much so.Are they are two-bit school because they are not a major research school --- ergo is Oregon a two-bit school in your eyes as well?
There is exactly one person bashing Clemson, and that person constantly throws absurd opinions at the wall and drives threads far off topic. For those of you disrespecting Clemson football, I would bet a lot of money that you trade programs in a heart beat....both the last 20 years and the next 20 years. I don't get the Clemson bashing.
YeahCameron James announcement coming in 1 hour?
Anyone know how many 2021 schollies we have left after James commiting?
