All Things Dawson Garcia Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020): UPDATED: Gophers Offered

Our staff now teaches better than before. It will show as the year goes on. I feel we are starting to build it. Might be too late sadly
I agree and it will be nice to get home and play some teams we should beat. I think this team will get better in the next couple of weeks!

If it is getting better, and I agree that it is and will, then Coyle will know that and stay the course. He understands that changing horses means another three year set back for the program. If he thinks Pitino and staff are not improving - then that is a different situation.

Two Tournament appearances in 5 years, 2nd place in a tough Big East last year, a .478 conference winning percentage compared to our .364 under Pitino. It's certainly better over the last few years, and vastly better all-time, which is what I stated and was my larger point./QUOTE]

Meh. They have been consistently on the NCAA bubble since Wojo became coach and were embarrassed in the first round last year.

Goodie! Another MN star we can watch at another school! Tired of this every year! Can we get Fleck to recruit for the hoopsters?

Umm you sure he's got the borders locked down?

When he said a few days ago it was a very difficult decision...that means he was gone

We have had more star bb players in the state that ever recently. It would would be nice to get at least a few of them (Thank you Oturo)

And Kalchaeur and Coffey, and Jarvis Johnson....

What top football recruit have we gotten? They all leave too.

We signed the state's top recruit in 2016 and 2017 - Carter Coughlin and Blaise Andries, who are both instrumental to this year's run. We are in the mix for the top 2020 recruit, Kaden Johnson, as well.

Its time to move on from Ricky, I was going to see if we got Garcia but its just not happening here. He seems like a good guy and what not but fact is we are just stuck in the bottom half of the league. This is 100% the same as the football team, is 7-5 with a bowl game acceptable? It shouldnt be! Would the next coach or 2 or 3 be any better? who knows, but we know after 7 years Pitino has done nothing to take us there. And dont say "we made the tourney 2 of the last 3 years!" We should expect more than a participation ribbon in the tourney every few years. Our bball version of PJ is out there we just need to find him!

We have had so many good high players from Minnesota over the past few years. It would be great to see a few more stay home. I really enjoy watching Mn kids play for the Gophers.

Also Tyler Johnson, Kamal Martin and others.

Correct, so you could almost say Coughlin (Kill Recruit) would be similar to a Coffey and Andreis (Kill/Claeys commit) could be similar to a Oturo (truthfully more like a Gabe). Kaden Johnson will be interesting. Would be like a true version of an Oturo.

Mostly what I think this actually shows is you can't compare the two. Say you want PJ's teaching. That is something that can be comparable

I think this will be key, I'm not sold on it happening though, I'm very skeptical

if Pitino could recruit just half of the Minnesota kids the gophs would be really good...With the staff having developed relationships with the class of 21 ,I cannot recommend canning Ricky...That being said he has done zip at home since Ben Johnson got passed over by him. Let’s see if he can score some local kids in 21...Pitino has had by far the best instate talent pool of in gophs BB coach...Got to believe there is something about him that rubs most of local players the wrong way

Good luck Dawson!

You're always welcome to come home, if you make that decision!

Best wishes. Seems like a great kid, and I can't fault his choice.
