FLECK HAS ACCEPTED THE GOPHERS JOB!! UPDATED: WE GOT FLECK!!!!

Agreed. Its just that many head coaches have KIA Disease ("Know-it-all Disease")

Right there with you. I can't get a thing done!

I don't want to freeze my ass off doing something outside like Tracy expects. Already had lunch. Have taken a nap. No games on TV I want to watch until tonight. Drawing this out is helping to kill another day. Forgot to mention I'm retired.

Very jealous! You may have some hope though. I haven't seen any photo shopped pictures of Fleck arriving in a plane or walking into the Vu yet. ;)

One of these days, the U is going to conduct their interviews at the Vu, and we'll be caught completely off guard.

Didn't Coyle fire Claeys and all assistants, except Sherels? How would the new coach be able to bring any of the assistants back?

Looks as if it's gonna have to be more like "row the yacht" to get Western Michigan Guy.

Insinuating it's gonna take a lot of $$$?

When was the last time Les Miles was the back-up plan.

We have Lake Minnetonka, and many people with large boats. Besides moolah, who has the large lake place that Fleck can Party at?

So, two regents have spoken out about not being included in the discussion to terminate the coaches. Their concern is the money this required. Say we land our coach at 3+million per year....will the BoR approve the hire?

Fleck knows the Gophers are trying to wrap this up in a hurry - and he's in a position where he holds all the cards. He can name his price and see if the Gophers are willing to shell out. If the Gophs don't want to meet his price, Fleck can always go back to WMU for another year, and wait until next year's coaching carousel to jump onto the next opportunity.

So, the question becomes, how much $$$$ is Coyle willing to pay - and how much $$$$ will Kaler authorize? (and will the board of regents approve the contract? remember - the Regents were grumbling after the Pitino extension became public. They may not be happy if Coyle commits the U of MN to another big payday for a coach.)

The BOR will approve a big number, iIf the money is coming from boosters.

We already did change thread title and added (not confirmed yet). If this rumor moves one way or another definitively we will adjust accordingly.

While I agree for the most part, he's losing his All-America receiver and QB along with some other key guys to graduation. No guarantees in this business and if WMU goes 8-5 or worse next year he might not be commanding north of $3M on the market. It's a gamble on his end to stay as well.

You do realize that "sticking to the U" is really sticking to almost everyone on here that supports financially the U of MN right???

Sure...and that is what having inept administrators costs us. By Coyles having to over pay him (or whoever gets hired) it will help demonstrate to the BoR that our issues aren't with a bad coach it is with the admin.
