Gives TC a chance to get his new offense rolling. More practices and experience for next year's team. I all go the bowl game. C Mich will make it a decent game and not a bore. A win should help with recruit retention.
Oh man, I wish. I saw the Cure, Love and Rockets, and the Pixies play a triple-header in Giants Stadium back in August 1989. Just an absolutely epic show.
Sounds great but doesn't beat the Ramones and B52s Friday night at the Warfield followed by the Kinks and Ron Ely at Berkley the next night
For you real football fans, Ford Field is running a promo: $125 will get you lower level seats for Lions/49s on 12/27 then Gophers next day.
Give me a minute while I try to come up with a reason to complain about this.....

Only problem with that is that Claeys has said we won't have new OC till after the bowl. Meaning we won't be installing the new offense until spring ball. The bowl game will be a game plan setup by the remaining members of the offensive staff.
On Sid's show today, Claeys said the current season class has never ended the season with a victory.
Yes, it's a minor bowl. Yes, it doesn't mean a lot in the great scheme of things. Yes, this season failed to meet expectations.
But, athletes are competitors. they want to compete, and they want to win. Even with all of the bleep that hit the fan this year, if I can watch the seniors walk off the field with a victory in their final game as Gophers, I will gain some satisfaction from that. It's a last chance to watch guys like Murray, Boddy-Calhoun, and others who have brought some respect back to Gopher FB the last few years. That should mean something.
And for those of you who only want to p*** and moan, and bad-mouth everything, a simple suggestion. Don't watch the game; don't come on line and post anything about it.

I'm curious as well. I'd like to see what they come up with although I'd kinda like to get in and out the same day, spend one night at most (due to other stuff) so I'm not sure they'll offer that.

I am having trouble saying something positive about Minnesota having to play in the Big Ten's biggest bag of shi+. I am not sure why the B1G thinks any of its teams would want to play yet another MAC opponent.
However, it is an opportunity to end the disgusting post-season losing streak!
That would likely be the case even if a new OC was hired - hard to install a totally new offense in 15 practices.
I think this is why they tweaked the draft press release.
Minnesota To Face Irrelevant Team in an Irrelevant Bowl
The University of Minnesota has no choice but to play Central Michigan in the 2015 Quick Lame Bowl. It seems most appropriate given the U's season. The game will be played at a place and time on some channel no one really cares about.
The game will mark another low in Minnesota’s last 50 or so years of bowl game ineptitude.
Central Michigan plays in a conference no one knows about so their record really doesn't matter. Minnesota padded it's non-conference schedule and walloped two teams from that same unknown conference.
Not that it matters, but Minnesota is 1-0 all-time against Central Michigan beating them during the golden 80's.
Ticket information and travel packages for the bowl will be announced in partnership with megabus a day or two before the game. Most of the half-dozen or so fans can expect to gain free entry by donating a can of soup at any of the two entrance gates of which one will be for fans.
Minnesota, which played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, finished the season with a 5-7 record which could have just as easily been 7-5 or, as some have pointed out, 2-10.
The Gophers are coached by Tracy Claeys who took over to insure staff continuity and retain verbal commitments for next year's recruiting class.
Minnesota is led on offense by it's defense and place-holder of the year Peter Mortel (see photo below).

Thanks for the info - the old man survives for yet another bowl appearance with K-State.Kansas State won their 6th game yesterday and are playing Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl (go Cats). San Jose State was the third 5-7 team and got matched with Georgia State in the inaugural Cure Bowl.
For those who just want a day trip. Creative Charters has an itinerary up for one.
$450-$500/ticket to fly out of MSP to Detroit... Man I hate that our airport has the 3rd highest prices.

That's actually a little lower than I've seen. The company I work for has a plant near Detroit, so we have people going back and forth a lot. It's the biggest ripoff there is. Because Delta controls both airports as hubs, the prices are insane. Average seems to be $700 nonstop, but you can book to almost anywhere with a Detroit connection and it's going to be cheaper than that.
Go Gophers!!!!!
F*ck all you haters!!!
No pricing.
And my god is that the worst website I've ever seen. It's like it was created in 1994, and it's all in comic sans.
