Official 2016 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

As far as being rusty the worst case is that he redshirts. By not playing this year he can concentrate on his academics, reports are that they're borderline, a little extra attention might be all that's needed.

This is a case where an early signing period might help the athlete. The Gophers are limited as to what they can do to help Garcia academically until NSD 2016 next February. It will be nice if the Gophers academics advisor can give him some pointers andencouragement to make sure that he is fully eligible.

The Garcia family can get that help without the U needing to be involved. Likely for about the same cost as daily transportation between St. Paul and Eagan.

per Sid:

• The Gophers lost their first in-state 2016 football recruit in Breck wide receiver Ramaud Chiakhiao-Bowman, a student with a 4.0 grade-point average who decided to go to Northwestern. The latest GPA numbers available for the Wildcats football team come from the 2013 season, when their players had a GPA just over 3.0, while the Gophers’ GPA for 2014 was exactly the same.

Go Gophers!!

Don't know anything about him. Is this a bad loss?

I think he is good enough to garner an instant offer from Jerry Kill after camp. My take on him is he is determined to go to a top notch school like NW, and there is no dissuading him to stay home.

What we need to worry about with GOpher recruits in the future is other schools wait for Jerry Kill to offer a (diamond in the rough hidden gem kid) kid, and then they swoop in and poach.

Kind of a lazy man's way of recruiting.

Scout is really bullish on Big Ten recruiting to this point. Eleven teams ranked in their top 40 compared to nine for the SEC. Minnesota's 33rd ranking is just 8th in the conference.

Do they ever redshirt a JUCO transfer?

YES!

I have been thinking about him a ton recently how much he and Webber would upgrade our D-line's depth, athleticism and size. Really love both of those guys. In an interview he said Ra'Shede is the one guy in the NFL he models his game after. I don't know if it's a stretch to think that Aime could start over Scott Ekpe and along side Richardson in 2016. I think he might be that good. Regardless, we would have Richardson, Ekpe, Aime, Stelter and Moore in the rotation for 2016 and thats not even including MoseHall or Jojo. At end we will have Hank, Elmore, Webber and Kafo in the rotation plus Dellatiboudere and two 2016 ends.

Per Rivals GI, Kamal Martin has committed to Minnesota.

I'm seeing a commitment to Eastern Michigan.

Eastern MichiganEastern Michigan Committed (6/24/2015)

Would like him in Maroon & Gold. Did he flip?

Eastridge's illegal recruiting is why Cretin Derham Hall has gone from an elite program to a solid program. Elite players from tough economic situations & piss poor football programs would find their ways to CDH on scholarships, just as Garcia did in the past, but those players began choosing Eastridge or even leaving CDH for Eastridge, as Garcia did. It clearly wasn't for better coaching, national exposure, a better conference or facilities. It makes me wonder what exactly it was? It's interesting that Garcia, Seth Green & the WR Cline (Sp?) all seemed to bail out at about the same time. Seems like they knew the jig was up.

Did Hassenaurer or George Behr, the Rutgers TE live inside the district?

The coaches must really believe that have something in the Daniels twins. They are rated lower than all the in-state recruits on rivals yet they seem like sure commitments. Anyone else find it interesting? I'm just bored and looking to nit-pic today, I guess.
