Bo Ryan getting blasted for post-game complaining about refs

Now the players joining the blame party!

Ok Bronson. I'll pick the and-1 where your Naismith-winning teammate bear-hugged Okafor and still wasn't able to keep him from scoring.

Definitely was the refs fault, though.

Crying? Hardly. We just had the greatest season by a B10 team in years and I loved every minute of it. Even tonight. Great coach, great team and a fun team to watch. And we lost a GAME to the greatest coach of our lifetimes. No shame. Only pride.

And yet here you are posting on a rival team's message board, just hours after the game...

Hang on now, I read that Wisconsin fans don't even see us as a rival. So I see no possible reason he'd have any interest posting here.

And that Michigan team with Burke, Hardaway, Stauskus and McGary was pretty good too. So if best B1G team in years he means like 3, yeah I guess so.

Ahh. Let the petty flow.

Wow, Bronson is going all in with the "blame the refs" talking points. It's rare to see that after such a high profile game from a high profile player.

Go Gophers!!

Sniffffffffffffffffffffffff ... ahhhhh the smell of a stinging Wisconsin loss is indeed sweet this morning.

To be honest, these types of interviews are one of the things I hate that the media does in sports. Everyone is looking for the sensationalist headline by throwing a camera and microphone in front of people's faces as they're, many times, reeling from having their dreams ripped away just a few minutes earlier. The media doesn't need to be in the locker room while players are trying to decompress from the game, they don't need to throw these kids up on stage before they have time to think about the game in full. That's why you get quotes like Koenig ripping the officials and Dekker looking like he's just been gutted. Go focus on the team that won the damn game and talk with them.
Bo 100% should've handled that interview better. We expect the nation's supposed top coaches to be able to put the pain of losing aside and compliment the other team for playing a better game. What's lost is that Bo, whether you want to argue that Bo imparts this on them on he feels his players emotions, was showing how his team felt. Was that the right thing to do? Probably not but for everyone ripping the dude to shreds, at least what he gave was real and if you're going to throw the camera in someone's face like that, what do you really expect? In hindsight they're probably pissed that Duke was gifted the ball when it clearly went off Duke. They probably didn't like the physicality that Duke played with (Koenig especially apparently).
I hate both these teams (Wisco more) and I can see where Wisco probably feels like they got jobbed. I can see why they would feel that way, especially given the time and circumstance of the interviews that are conducted.

That being said. Bo is still a major ******

Not defending saying anything, but given the "foul" he was called for, I can see why he was pissed.

It was a very smart play by Tyus.

Bo's interview was classic. He's the most arrogant and classless POS ever.

All the players take their lead from the coach. Same goes for the fans. They see Bo bitch and complain and figure they should follow suit.

As the cameras and camera-work get better, the officiating gets worse.

Bo coached a horrible game!!! He lost his focus completely. He allowed his players and himself to whine about the refs with a nine point lead. The refs were the focus, not the game for Bo. How often did wisconsin attack the basket in the last 10 possessions to get to the foul line? What happened to swinging the ball and posting people up with the lead and getting to the line. They did not attack. They couldn't shoot...get to the line. Decker driving, Hayes posting and doing his reverse pivot drive, Frank doing his footwork thing inside. Didn't happen. No plan whatsoever the last minute of the game....they were shooting from 40 feet. Reallly bad coaching, not adjusting to the game is how Wisconsin lost.
Tyus stepped up and they just let him keep making plays....never disrupted what he was killing with over and over. Make somebody else beat you.

That is EXACTLY what happened!! The team wasn't the same after Bo spent that entire timeout chewing on the one official by the scorers' table. After that the team lost focus, especially on offense where they were suddenly impatient and visibly rattled.

Cowherd is blasting Bo for the rent-a-player quote + Diamond Stone recruitment.

Sooooo very similar to how ND lost to UK and how UK lost to Wisconsin. Coach to win, do NOT coach to not loose.

One play I haven't seen mentioned that stands out for me was when Dukan basically clothes-lined Grayson Allen for an "And 1". Refs got the call right, but somehow Dukan and Kaminsky both acted like he got all ball...

I hope Allen can keep his head up high after that one...

Very sad. Acting like a prick, coached by a prick. Classless. Unbelievable.

Hope all the Gopher fans wishing for a wisky win are feeling good today.

Cowherd is taking that quote out of context. It was about grad transfers. Still a weird tangent to go off on by Bo, but Cowherd is wrong again.

Why would he be talking about grad transfers last night. How many did Duke have? All of their core pieces were one and done's.

That doesn't make any sense to me either, but if you look at the entire quote, he's speaking to fifth year grad transfers in my opinion. In the video he's literally staring at Gasser and Frank as he says it. It's a quote about how much he loves his players and the time spent with them.

I'm not defending him. I'm not a Bo apologist by any means. He still said other stupid things, but the rent a player wasn't one of them.

"All the seniors that I've had -- hard to say the word. But every player that's played through the program, okay, we don't do a rent-a-player. You know what I mean? Try to take a fifth-year guy. That's okay. If other people do that, that's okay. I like trying to build from within. It's just the way I am. And to see these guys grow over the years and to be here last year and lose a tough game, boom, they came back."

Seems to me that he's saying it's ok to take graduate transfers but not one-and-done players... It also seems like your trying to defend a**hole Bo.

By the BTN guys all just confirmed the officiating was not optimal. And Jim Jackson gave Duke the credit for figuring out how to deal with it.
Hard to believe the BTN would not try to be a little biased toward the fan base they serve. Your grasping for straws as your program gets a black eye from your borish coach.

That's how I took his quote as well. He's definitely saying its OK to take a 5th year, but as most have suggested, he's taking shots at the one-and-done freshmen that Duke and UK recruit.

Go Gophers!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Bo backlash over the last 12 hours. Just don't think this quote is deserving of it. Plenty of other ones from last night. We can agree to disagree.
