Bo Ryan getting blasted for post-game complaining about refs

Anyone want to do call law enforcement and have them do a welfare check on Ruppert, who might be not eating or drinking any water as he salivates over Buckyville's meltdown?

Nope..getting ready for the Masters. Got my hdcp below 10 this winter. Just got back to Nisswa
last Saturday and was surprised at the number of lakes open. In regards to Becky, I was confident
they would lose to Duke. The Dukies beat them by 10 in Madison and if they wouldn't have missed a bunch of bunnies in the first half the game would have been over. Have not been to Buckyville because you know they're pissing their pants. Bo? Nothing to see here. It's the same Bo we have seen since he has been the Badger coach. And finally, it is YOU guys starting all the threads about Becky, not me. So buzz off.

I was starting to fall for all of the Bo interviews these last couple of weeks. He seemed funny and gracious in his replays and I began to think I may have misread him in the past. NO WAY... His true colors have shown through and now the whole nation knows what a jerk he can be.

Very Good UU.

@builtbadgers......don't even have to praise the other team. Just say they were better tonight/we had and off night/they finished the game better than we did/ we had our chances....etc.

No doubt Bo is an Elite coach. This was very sad though.

WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!

As a Badger fan, this loss is tough to swallow OBV. We had em on the ropes up by 8 or whatever. I think Bo coached **** game and Dekker clearly played like ****. Sconny will most likely never get another chance like this, esp the way big time recruits shy away rom UW. Honestly could care less about his comments, Bo has always been one to speak his mind. But you are blind if you do not think those two Winslow calls were HUGE missed calls. The refs pretty much let Winslow and Unibrow do whatever they wanted on the court. I guess it is karma though, because we did get the shot clock call in the game before. I honestly would rather have lost to UK in the final four game than making it to the Natty game and losing to Dook, Winslow, Jah, and Unibrow. Lots of factors that went into this loss and it was not just the refs. Dekker is a top 10 pick and was non-existent.

The ball is tipped
Your team won't flinch
Your team is white as snow
And you look like the Grinch
And now there's tears
We all know
That you're an asshole
And now it shows...
In one whining moment, you showed who you are
One whining moment, forever a doosh

My crush on you has deepened into something...something more.

Same here. That's two years in a row that Wisconsin went one game too far and kept me out of the money in my pool. :banghead:

Duke beat Wisconsin at their own game plain and simple. Duke was better coached in the second half period.

The talk about the 20-10 FT disparity is nauseating. Duke attempted 4 FT after intentional fouls late in the game. So, in the course of normal action, Duke attempted 6 more FTs than Wisconsin (including 1 after a Frank intentionally wrapped up Jahlil).

So, a whopping 6 extra FTs for Duke. And folks are jumping to the officiating. Far less people have mentioned that Duke consistently attacked rim, while Wisconsin settled for jump shots. To put some numbers on it, Wisconsin attempted a 3 pointer on nearly 40 percent of its possessions. Duke attempted a 3 on 20 percent of its possessions. Who would you think would get more FTs in that case?

Agree or disagree, the refs were consistent all night in favoring offensive aggressors over defenders. That’s a big reason why Okafor and Winslow got in foul trouble. Frank took Okafor to the rim, and Okafor got whistled. Winslow got called for a couple questionable blocks in the first half. That’s the way the game was being called start to finish. Duke adjusted and used their speed to attack the rim. Wisconsin, especially Dekker and Hayes, didn’t.

Bo decided to spend his efforts working the officials, rather than adapting to the way they’d been calling the entire game. Dekker and Hayes should have been using their size and ability to put the ball on the floor to attack the rim. They didn’t. Coach K wins his 5th national title. Bo conducts a whiny press conference. If you think the difference between the post-game scenes between both coaches was because of the officials, you weren’t paying attention.

Hayes also blamed the refs:

Sophomore forward Nigel Hayes was asked why the game slipped away from UW, which built a 48-39 lead 6 minutes 36 seconds into the second half.

"One team shot more free throws than the other team," he said.

Hayes was asked if he was being diplomatic.

"I'm trying to be politically correct," he said. "You never know when you'll have another ref...you don't want to say anything that will upset someone.

"And we take pride in ourselves. We don't want to blame another factor. But it is evident to see one team shot more free throws."

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/badg...nd-half-foul-calls-b99475571z1-298855571.html

Go Gophers!!

Wisconsin shot almost 300 more free throws than their opponents this year. So if we use this same logic for the whole season, then WI shouldn't have made it as far as they did. Of course that is ridiculous, they deserved to get as far as they did. And his comments here are also ridiculous.

In the end Wisconsin had a great season. They got calls along the way just like about every other team. The officiating has been horrible across the board. But the refs are not the reason they only scored 4 points in the last 5 minutes of the game. The officials are not the reason Dekker shot 0-6 from 3 pointers.

Ryan gave no credit to Duke and essentially said the refs are the only reason they lost. If I were a WI fan I'd be proud of the season and the players but would be embarrassed by the lack of class after the game. I can maybe see some of the players doing it but not the head coach.

If only Senator McCaskill had some type of influence to change the rule prohibiting High School graduates from going directly to the NBA. If she doesn't like the rule then maybe the SENATOR should work toward a solution to change it instead of ripping the kids who don't have a choice in the matter. MERICA!!

The comments by the senator are ridiculous as well. She first says she is cheering for WI because she does't like the one and done thing. Then comes back and says it isn't about the kids. Um, yes it is. Your first post made it about the kids.

Yep. She's "rooting for the team that has stars that are actually going to college and not just doing semester tryouts for the NBA". Clearly a grandstanding moment for her, only she picked the wrong moment in which to grandstand and chose the wrong target to grandstand for (and against), as Duke has one of the highest graduation rates in America for their basketball players, while Wisconsin has one of the lowest.

And you saw how quickly she started walking back her comments once she was confronted on them. Just completely inappropriate, and neither the time nor place to try and inject politics into a situation.

just a thought - refs are people, too. Does anybody think that the refs are watching the game and saying, "I think that's a foul on team A, but I'm going to call it on team B because of some ulterior motive."

No- the refs are calling the fouls as they perceive it. I personally would prefer a game with a lot less physical play - but the only way that's going to happen is if refs start calling 150 fouls a game until players and coaches adjust. I see so many games - college and HS - where teams go on kamikaze drives to the hoop in hopes of getting to the FT line and getting the other team in foul trouble. What ever happened to running an offense, and working for good shots (and making those shots)?

Yes, a bad call at a crucial moment can greatly impact a game, but if you don't want to be put in a situation where one call helps decide the game, then make 1 more shot, grab 1 more rebound, have 1 more good defensive possession without fouling. In the end, players decide the game, not officials.

I think it's worth noting that basically the whole country agreed with the Wisconsin players. Certainly better not to say anything in that situation, but I'm sure it's hard after an emotional loss. It's not like Rick Pitino Sr has never complained about the officiating after a game.

House money is on Rory. I personally will be rooting for Fowler though. The kid needs to break through and win one finally

Spieth and McIlroy are the favorites, both at 8-1. Stenson seems like a pretty good value bet at 20-1, same as Tiger. Fowler is 30-1, pretty good. I'll be happy if any number of guys win though.

I hope you only mean Tiger is also at 20-1, not a good value bet :D

Hopefully Bo's recruits for next year reconsider. Who would really want to play for a man with zero class. Hopefully Alex I. reconsiders.

I think it's worth noting that basically the whole country agreed with the Wisconsin players. Certainly better not to say anything in that situation, but I'm sure it's hard after an emotional loss. It's not like Rick Pitino Sr has never complained about the officiating after a game.

People agree there were some bad calls but I don't think most people agree that is the only reason they lost. That's what Bo and his players are saying.

And this is why you're a Badger fan. You really don't get it? Seriously?!

Because a collection of largely anti-Duke/pro-B1G blogs say it's so, "basically the whole country agreed"? That's just too classic.

More importantly, your man Bo is on an extremely short list of coaches in the nation who have accomplished what he has and would still come out after the national title game and spew such drivel. Just embarrassing. Show some class and tip your hat and move on.

You and your man Bo must be the same guys that tell your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend that they're fat when asked how they look in that dress?

I thought this was a thread about embedding random tweets and I was just trying to keep up.

Coach K in March of 2014:
“It’s like old stuff,” Krzyzewski said. “I think when you win a long time – and we’re not a state school, so you don’t have a press corps protecting you a little bit – you’re out there. That goes with the territory. And not only that, but announcers and talk show hosts and whatever – they will not say anything about yesterday’s game.
“And again, Virginia played better than we did. But obviously there were 38 free throws to 11. There were things that if you’re trying to homer for somebody, you could homer. And we don’t get that at all. Ever.
“So that does get old. But you know what? I’m not going to start losing – or try to start losing – to get away from that.”

Rick Pitino in Feb of 2012:

The officials “are really starting to get under my nerves,” Pitino said. “I don’t know who the hell they think they are. The level of arrogance, I just cannot believe it.”

And more, according to our RapidReporter Evan Hilbert: “I have a problem with the officials. They thought they were the three guys going into the Referee Hall of Fame the way they talked to me. I don’t know what they’re looking at sometimes, but they’re so positive, they should really go into the Referee Hall of Fame.”

Tom Izzo, Saturday:

I think it's just a drive and get fouled. You know, you're not allowed to touch anybody any more," Izzo said. "I was here when we had smashmouth basketball. I totally agree — I don't think that's the right way to do it.

"But I also don't think ... I don't think anybody wants to see the best players on the bench."

"It's not as much fun to coach when you're constantly telling guys, 'Don't touch 'em, don't move,' " he said. "We had some fouls we deserved, but there were to me probably some right calls, but bizarre. I don't want to complain about the fouls anymore. We got our butts beat. I still say most of it was our fault."

Thad Matta last month:

Matta on the officiating: "I've been in this league 11 years and that was amazing."

Honestly, I'd probably better be careful because I'm not very happy right now with what I saw. I hadn't seen anything like that. It is what it is. You know it's going to be a physical basketball game, but yeah, I was just a little bit upset on one end to the other end and that sort of thing. But everybody did their best

I thought this was a thread about embedding random tweets and I was just trying to keep up.

The overwhelming majority of tweets embedded in this thread were from national reporters and not random people. Like two of them were random.

From what I have read and heard on TV just about everyone said the opposite and felt Bo was being a classless jerk.
