Wisconsin OT Luke Rasmussen commits to Gophers!!!!!!!!!

I didn't realize he was a long snapper as well. So we are getting a big, smart kid who can long snap. How can him committing be even close to being a bad thing?

As I said in an earlier post, this is a kid the staff worked with first hand at camp and then followed all season to see how he progressed as a Senior. Who cares about stars when the staff has worked with a kid, followed him for a year and decides they want him on the team? They have a plan and a system, Rasmussen fits the system.

Another commitment thread that's become a pissing match about number of stars. Apparently Kill and his staff still hasn't earned the respect from some fans for their ability to identify talent. With the way this program is being built and the progress we've seen, I'm excited about every player that commits. Welcome Luke!

I'm a bit shocked that the Badgers missed out on this kid. I'm also very pleased they missed. I am very glad he is going to be a Gopher. He could be "big time."

Could the staff be trying to knock of NW for smartest team?

I'd be delighted if scholasticism is a significant consideration. We might be developing a niche where good athletes who are good students choose UM.

Intelligence is a MAJOR factor in intercollegiate and professional athletics. The world is full of people who are athletic enough to play college and/or pro football for example. When moving from one level to the next, what you have upstairs is almost always one of the biggest weeding out factors, except in the extreme cases with the uber-elite athletes who are better than everyone else on the field. These guys exist a lot less than people think.

Super, super excited to be picking up highly intelligent Offensive Linemen. Christenson is a prime example. It's possible, but it wouldn't surprise me if Christenson was NOT the most athletically gifted person that was vying for the starting Center position in fall camp.

We already have that…………the volleyball team.

Your remark is oblique. Are you agreeing that this niche is appropriate and we're already developing it starting with the volleyball team? Or do you feel that such a niche is not appropriate for other sports? Or other explanation.

According to rivals they have commits from 5 OL in their current class so probably a numbers thing as to why they would not offer Rasmussen.

Instead of making excuses, why don't you just admit that they missed on him???
