You just hit one of my pet peeves, the game manager’s sobriquet.
I don't consider "game manager" to be pejorative.

Also naturally, a young QB that proves to be a solid game manager can certainly progress to something more elite as experience is gained.
 


Exactly. For the Vikings, a game manager that protects the ball with the weapons around him should be all that is required. That's presuming the defense is solid.

The defense part of the equation is easier to obtain with less cap devoted to the QB.

In all fairness, every QB in the NFL is a game manager and really, every QB in the NFL is a "system QB", two terms which are so horrendously tossed around it's ridiculous.

At the end of the day, it's about the QB executing the game plan.

A QB that is efficient at executing the game plan and works within the structure of the offense looks to some like a "system QB" or a "game manager" simply because they don't HAVE to improvise and make plays off-script.
