Gotta love the Hole when you need a "reality" check. I think it's coming down to USC and tOSU and I think the sweater vest is gonna get him.

ZERO chance he ends up at OSU, We are very far ahead of OSU in competing for his services. It's Us, USC, and a small off chance Notre Dame.

Not according to what the Rivals national guys are saying that are down there in San Antonio with him this week.

If he goes to tOSU, he's dead to me. That, I think, should take their name officially out of the hat.

I agree, anywhere but OSU type deal. But really, why wouldn't he seriously consider staying local? He's gonna have the chance to play on Sunday regardless of where he goes. staying home allows him to be a hometown favorite. maybe the rumors of the coach not making it through these recruit's career is a bigger deal than some give it credit for.

If he goes to OSU he is a moron, ask Willie Mobley how that one worked out.

Why do you think so? I'd be happy if we were, but just wondering why you think we have a leg up on them?

SH is NOT Willie Mobley. You can't assume Seantrel won't succeed because another kid from MN didn't. Why would he be a moron for going to a top #10 school that has a ton of resources, and a proven coach? You can say you want him to come here, but come on...he's not a moron if he goes to OSU.

USC?

There is a lot of evidence that USC mostly just "features" talent for the California audience, rather than foster it. In some cases it's pretty obvious they even squander talent.

There are 42 USC Trojans in the NFL this year. This looks good for them (it might even be the most in the NFL). Just for the sake of comparision, 18 Gophers cashed NFL checks this year.

But USC's ability to grow talent comes into question when one considers the huge number of blue-chip recruits that have played at USC over that time. For instance, from 2002-2004 Minnesota had only two 4* recruits. In this time, USC had 41 guys that were 4*+.

Considering this shockingly poor ratio of blue-chip recruits/ NFL players, it's not surprising to see an extremely talented 5* recruit like Reggie Bush playing behind 2 guys who were not very highly recruited and went to a D-1 school in their home states (Arizona and Illinois).

I would like to know these same kinds of stats/info with respect to osu

Do we actually need him??? I'm under the impression that Brew's recruiting classes are good enough to step up and grab us the roses.

You're referring to football rankings, correct?

What else would I be referring to? He's being recruited to play football...and yes, he loves basketball, but that's not why he's the #1 player in the nation.

What else would I be referring to?QUOTE]

Academics...Whether he is sincere or not, SH has consistently talked about academics being a major consideration. When you referred to osu as a top 10 school, well...I was about ready to go on a diatribe, but I realized what you were likely really referring to...

No harm, no foul

How horrible is this - that didn't even enter into my thought process?

In all honesty though - with all of the schools he's looking at, you can't go wrong. OSU is ranked #53, ND is #20, Miami #50, USC #26, MN is #61, Florida is #47, and I'm guessing Iowa may be lowest on the list at #71.

I've been on record as saying I think he's just flirting with USC & Miami and that, because he is a level headed Midwesterner from a solid private school with a solid family back in Minnesota he'll stay in the Midwest. I think his final 4 are (In no particular order) Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio St & Notre Dame. I really think he's Ohio St bound although I too have heard he already gave a silent verbal to Notre Dame.

Any new thoughts w/ the turmoil at USC now?

Obvious Choice

It's not hard to predict where Seantrel is headed. He's going to Akron!

The Zips do have a nice new stadium (seriously, for a MAC school its gorgeous)...I'm sure that is helping woo him. ;)

Under Mason the U developed some major NFL talent on the O-line. With Fisch apparently leaving, what an opportunity for the U to move quickly and make a public commitment to becoming an O-line factory through a strong position coach change (ex. Iowa). Moving quickly on this, the combination of the two Army All American Offensive Tackles of James Gjere from Irondale and Seantrel would be amazing. Go Gophers! and Seantrel Stay Home!

Oklahoma says he chose Miami over them, for his 5th and final official visit. So I voted that he will go to Miami. But man do I hope he chooses Minnesota.

I think it would be great for the program and great for him. When he retires from the NFL, he can become a huge Gopher booster, so close to home.

Could end up at a JUCO if he does not improve is ACT (17) and CORE grades.

What a head scratcher if that happened. You'd think that with his Dad's close involvement and the high school he's attending, there would be no question that he'd be an immediate qualifier.

he seems kind of like a punk with his terrible grades even though he is in a private school and is given every advantage but I still want him to come here. All the idiots that hate on White should not want him though.

Seantrel is NOT a punk. His grades aren't terrible.

He will be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse this year. JUCO is NOT in his future.

He will be welcomed with open arms by any of his 8 finalists.

His grades/test scores are good enough to gain entrance into some pretty decent colleges with good/great undergrad reputations, including Notre Dame, Florida, Miami (Fl), Ohio State, Minnesota, etc.

Don't go rippin' on the kid:(

This coming from one of the most negative posters on the board? You don't even like the Gophers.

Thought I'd give this a bump - this is what it looks like 48 hours before signing day:

Minnesota 74 30.45%
