Didn't expect that but tiebreakers are strange that way. Still feels like we have to win at least one of the last 3 or more accurately one of the 2 against Nebraska or Rutgers because beating Wisconsin right now feels like a pipe dream after these last two.Believe it or not, the Gophers are still in. Current 3-way tiebreaker between Gophers, Iowa, and Northwestern falls Gophers and Hawkeyes way for the final 2 spots.
On to Pinnacle Arena we go, where the Gophers have never won. Now would be a good time.
Through February 25

Weakling Wednesday (March 13) -- #11 Ohio State (7-10) vs. #14 Gophers (6-11), 7:30 (Peacock)
Am I right that MN wants NW to win that one because of the Gophs head-to-head against Iowa? A lot of other moving parts of course.1 more should absolutely do it.
Iowa @ Northwestern on Saturday feels like a de facto play-in game.

Probably because it was an Out of Sight/Out of Mind Peacock game, I messed up the Tip Off time for the Gophers, starting at 6p instead of what thought was 7p.I'll actually be in Northfield for the MIAC Quarter Playoff game, Augsburg vs Carleton, so I will only be able to follow on my phone anyway.
Usually MIAC games go quicker than Big 10 matchups, so perhaps I can catch the end in my car.
Iowa holding down the 15th AND 16th spots. Wow, that IS a logjam!!Look at that logjam for the final spot.
Penn State and Washington must win out to have a chance.

Oopsy daisy, thanks! Forgot to flip them. Will correct.Iowa holding down the 15th AND 16th spots. Wow, that IS a logjam!!
Despite their best efforts, the gophs may actually stumble and fumble their way into IndianapolisThe logjam for the final spot. ...
Rutgers and Nebraska both 7-10, Northwestern, Gophers, USC, and Iowa all 6-11. I must say, I like that there's some drama at the bottom of standings. Before the season started I wouldn't have said that. I'm now convinced there's no need for an 18-team tournament.
Penn State and Washington must win out to have a chance.

Still gotta win one more most likely and none of the 3 left are gimmies.Despite their best efforts, the gophs may actually stumble and fumble their way into Indianapolis

But two are on the road so at least Johnson won't have to go through the hassle of trying to make the home locker room look like an away locker room.![]()

Penn State and Washington seem pretty locked in to two of the spots after PSU's loss to Indiana yesterday. You're right they probably will have to win one more. BUT, it's entirely possible 3 of these 4 teams lose out too. Which would be an incredibly sad way to qualify, but a way nonetheless!
Iowa: @Northwestern, Michigan State, @Nebraska
Penn State: Maryland, @Wisconsin
Washington: Indiana, @USC, Oregon
USC: @Oregon, Washington, @UCLA
Maybe, but I don't really worry about the point spread. If we play the way we are capable of playing and Dawson has a big game we can beat Nebraska and/or Rutgers. They will be 5+ dogs in all three games
Makes sense....head to head Northwestern has the edge over us now, so if we have to end up tied with someone it is way better for it to be Iowa. This site lets you pick all of the outcomes of the remaining games and see the resulting tournament. It seems to indicate that we would want NW to beat Iowa if we want the gophers in the tournament. Much better off with Iowa in 2 or 3 team tiebreakers than NW.

And the Wisconsin game will feel like a road game. I smell a 3-0 sweep!Still gotta win one more most likely and none of the 3 left are gimmies.

That's true, probably won't have to do anything at all to make that game feel like a road game. And the Wisconsin game will feel like a road game. I smell a 3-0 sweep!
Fun site. If everything broke our way, we'd end up with the #10 seed. This site lets you pick all of the outcomes of the remaining games and see the resulting tournament. Iowa, I do believe clinched a spot in the bottom 3. Gophers seem unlikely to fall to the bottom even with all losses. ?Northwestern looks poised to take down Iowa which helps us should we end up in a tie breaker situation with iowa to avoid missing the BTT.
I don’t think that’s true. Iowa has two games remaining and could win one. If the Gophers lose all three, a distinct possibility, Hawkeyes finish ahead of us.Iowa, I do believe clinched a spot in the bottom 3. Gophers seem unlikely to fall to the bottom even with all losses. ?
Michigan St and Nebraska on the road seem like mark it down losses for Iowa to me?I don’t think that’s true. Iowa has two games remaining and could win one. If the Gophers lose all three, a distinct possibility, Hawkeyes finish ahead of us.
